Elegant and Luxurious
By ,
The lobby is elegant with marble floors, dark wood accents, comfortable furniture and fireplace conversation area. The rooms were spacious with very comfortable beds and upscale linens, towels and toiletries. Housekeeping was attentive when needed and friendly. The daily continental breakfast was first class with excellent pastries and breads, fruits, coffee, etc served on china. We enjoyed the exercise room overlooking the indoor heated pool everyday. Rod's Steakhouse is attached to the hotel. Every meal was a delight. We walked across the parking lot to the train station - very convenient. We will go back to The Madison and Rod's!

We go every 2 months
By ,
The place is great. We've been going every few months for 3 years for a weekend getaway. The food at Rods attached restaurant is great, along with the atmosphere. Friday and Saturday nights they have the best jazz trio around, and the bartenders are friendly. The price is reasonable, and they have a deal that includes a restaurant gift certificate and train tickets into NY from a station in walking distance. Going back again in 10 days!

Never Again!
By ,
The service staff was surly, the rooms were dirty and the colonial ambiance, such as it was, gave the impression of a proud, multi-generational ownership that took care of the place. Not true. The front desk personnel are as helpful as can be, but lord help you if you arrive at your room and need any service of any kind. Room Service here was the worst I've experienced outside of Canada, and that's saying a lot. I tried this hotel three times because it is convenient to work, but on the third try, I actually checked out and found another hotel. Too bad because it's well located.

Don't expect to sleep on weekends
By ,
We were put near wedding guests who wanted to party all night. Very upsetting since we had early morning flights. Management took an hour to handle the situation. To top it off, there was a roach on the ceiling in our room.

very disappointed
By ,
For such an expensive hotel the service was poor, room was so dusty you could see where the vacuum started and stopped. The bathroom ceiling had a leak, there was water damage on the ceiling tile and down the shower tiles. I was not able to get internet connection, the front desk was suppose to come and help, never heard or saw a soul. Never interacted with any staff. Nicely decorated, pool and exercise facilities were great.

Great memories!
By ,
My husband and I had our reception in the Conservatory and I have not been to a wedding since in such a beautiful room. Service was good and the surf and turf for dinner was delicious. I can't comment on the service to date but the setting left wonderful memories not for just my husband but also our guests!

A great place to relax and unwind
By ,
On arrival service for baggage and for check-in was excellent. The room was inviting, spacious, and comfortable. Requests to housekeeping for extra pillows and blanket were met immediately. The ambiance was traditional (not modern) which appealed to my wife and I. The lounge in the lobby had a quiet, comfortable aire and the continental breakfast was adequate. We attended a friends wedding in the atrium and it was really well done. Cocktail hour was well serviced and the appetizers were appropriate, tasty, and well served. The reception with all of the food and accouterments provided for an entertaining and joyous occasion. Check-out was express. The Madison is a hotel in the grand old tradition set in a beautiful college community. Well done!

Wedding food needs improvement
By ,
I recently went to a wedding there and stayed overnight. The coctail hour food was very chintzy. The main course string beans were like wax and the filet was overcooked. There were not enough seats at our table and it took them 1/2 hour to find two more chairs. Since there was also another wedding on a Sat. night, they need more attentive and better trained staff and servers. They need to get their act together.

The Night at the hotel
By ,
The hotel was very comfortable and spacious. It was quiet and relaxing. I went to the hotel for a wedding and let me tell you, it was the nicest wedding I have ever been to. The food was fantastic and the scenery was amazing. The next mornings breakfast downstairs was delicious. Keep up the great work. it is definetly a hotel I will be coming back to.

Decent hotel without much competition in the area
By ,
The building has some charm - the atrium fireplace is a nice touch. Decent continental breakfast. 10$/day for high speed internet. Biggest problem is the noise the in-room AC/Heater makes.
