Poorly ran business!
By Jenna, 11/11/09
My husband and his crew were doing a job in winnemucca and stayed at the winners hotel for about 2-3 months. Out of those couple months the hotel managed to double charge us for 2 of the weeks. They would pay cash when they left and then we would notice they charged our card also. I know mistakes happen, but you learn from the first time. It shouldn't happen again 2 weeks later. I am still fighting with the worthless management to get my money back. Seems they can't find in their register where the cash was paid, and the little girl that took their money doesn't seem to remember 3 days later. My husband has another job coming up in Winnemucca and will be staying at another hotel. It will cost them a little bit more a night, but it's worth it to not to have to deal with the bullshit and headache!

Ok for the price.

You get what you pay for at $35. It's not very clean and hasn't been updated in decades. I stayed in the area across the street, so the part that is attached to the casino could be better.

Could have been better.

Stayed in the casino hotel, not nearly enough power outlets. There was only one in the room. Windows do not open. Hair on linens and in shower . .Borrowed iron from front desk, it leaded and would shut off while using. Waitress in Pete's Restaurant was very unfriendly . . . desk staff was very friendly.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/05
We have been coming to Winnemucca for the past 6 years and stay at the Winners Hotel and Casino. We love the atmosphere, the people and everything in general. Winnemucca is a great little town with lots of big features! Winnemucca is our vacation destination! Keep up the good work! Cheri Miller

Friendliest place in town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/05/04
My wife and I get through Winnemucca quit often. I have family in Phoenix and I pass through Winnemucca on the way down. We're from Portland Oregon. My little airplane needs refueling when we reach that area, so it makes a convenient place to stop. (by the way, if you're flying the airport folks are about the nicest peoples we have run into! Fair gas prices) We always use the "Winner's" shuttle to get into town, and stay at the hotel. The woman driver is great, and she and my wife sing along to Janis Joplin whenever we make the trip. It's better than the local radio. We were stranded in town about three Thanksgivings ago due to a persistant snow storm. Winner's hotel was a great host. They even had the shuttle run us up the the Walmart so we could buy gloves and boots, then drive us back. We were dressed for Phoenix and not for a blizard. Great old Western hospitality. We try to stay in the old casino building. The rooms are small, but very clean and well lit. We have also stayed in the annex building where the rooms are bigger. Either are OK. The restautant in the hotel is OK and has pretty much the usual wild west fare, a lot of biscits and gravy that would make my doctor turn blue. If that's not to your taste, there are several great "Basque" places within a short walk. Most of my evaluation is based on the people working at Winner's. They, like most people in Winnemmuca, are very friendly, and remind me of my first trip out West, from Ohio, in the 60's. The pace is still slow, and still has a lot of that old country hospitality. I prefer it to the other "chain" hotels in town.
