Tam O'shanter, Las Vegas

I had been driving all night to get to vagas. checked in to the TAM in the morning very tired, so where do they put me up..?? at the end of the building right next to the street with nonstop noise from traffic. Not only this, it was August 1996 and the cooler in the room did not work...95 degrees in the room and i am lying there trying to sleep.....

Stayed there years back on my first trip to Vegas. As I was using the in room bathroom a slot opened in the wall and out came a big black finger, that made a "come here" motion at me. When I screamed and recoiled the man pressed his lips to the hole and started yelling that I was a racist.

This was a great motel. We stayed here last weekend 6/13/09. Very close to the Sands. It was an easy walk, and the Sands has great food. The mirrors come off the wall very easily, and they are weel used with razor marks. We will always stay here; from now on. This place rocks. Friendly girls out front and a really nice pool.

I remember the Dead was playing and 20 of us packed the room. I think we all pitched in a buck or so. It was the nastiest room ever- thank heavens I was high! The experience was super fun! early 90's.

Server: Wyatt L (#195) What a horrible experience we had today at Tam O’Shanter. When I made the reservation yesterday I asked if I could use my coupons. The woman who took the reservation said “Sure!”. When we arrived the restaurant, I showed our server, Wyatt, the coupons and he said that you didn’t accept them today. I told him that I was told when I made the reservations that I could use them. He said “Well, if they said you could...” So my husband and I ordered dinner. When we were done, we put our coupon on the tab and Wyatt said “You can’t use these today”. He had said earlier we could. We would not have ordered had he said that in the first place. I told the manager what happened, and he said , “Well, someone made a mistake”. End of story. The coupon does not specify the “black out dates” for the coupon. The coupon states “Not valid on holidays, for special events or with any other offer or discount”. Mother’s day is NOT a legal holiday. That is why I asked when I originally made the reservation. Tam O’Shanter ruined my Mother’s Day.

Ah', the memories of the Tam. I pulled off my first Angry Pirate at the 'Shanter. Who cares if the room was clean, my girl was a dirty nasty one, and the lights were off!

I stayed at the Tam for the first time when I was 16 years old and came to Las Vegas to visit with my family. That was 44 years ago!! We stayed there several more times, but hadn't been there for 20+ years, at least. To my amazement, when I visited Las Vegas in 2003, there it was!!! Tiny Tam sandwiched between gargantuan hotels. How in the world did they hold out that long, and can you imagine the price it had to command!!! I'll miss it. Now it's just a memory.

My wife and I from Australia stayed one night in the Tam O'Shanter sometime in early September 2004. We swam in the pool, put a quarter in the "bed massager", saw the pirate show at Treasure Island and spent the night exploring the strip. It was a long weekend, we hadn't booked anything and were lucky to get a room in town. Must of been fate.

In October 2004, while visiting Vegas, I thought I would seek out the TAM for future consideration. There was nothing to be found.... A large fenced in area and dirt- lots and lots of dirt! We sure missed the boat on that one. Thanks to a Venetian expansion I am sure.
