Very Nice Hotel
By Kelle, 04/12/09
We had a very nice time at the Nugget Hotel the sevice is good, the staff are friendly, especially in the two restaraunts we went to. The room we stayed in was very nice and comfortable. The price was very good. The indoor pool and hot tub is excellent and very enjoyable. The Nugget has a very safe and calm environment. If you are looking for alot of excitement this would not be the place, but it is close enough to downtown Reno where things are a little more exciting. I would recommend the Nugget to others and would stay there again.

Our room was...
By Mushy Love Birds!, 09/27/08
Clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable, affordable and had the greatest view. We were in the west tower on the 20th floor with an eastern facing window that was about twenty feet long and floor to ceiling high showing all of Reno. The king size bed faced this view and we enjoyed it so much. The room was done in rose themed wall covering with velvet rose covered furnishings. We had a sofa and a recliner in this room which made it feel more like a mini suite! The best part is that the weeknight rate was only $58 before tax, the weekend rate was about $115. So worth it. The staff at the Casino and the hotel were all very nice and helpful. We played some slots, ate in the buffet (yum) and visited their unbelievably beautiful pool and spa on the 5th floor. It was like an oasis. It is literally 10 minutes from downtown Reno and very easy to access from the freeway.

Terrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/08
This hotel wasn't much better than a Motel 6. Actually, come to think of it, I've had better stays at Motel 6. The rooms in the West Tower haven't been updated since the mid-80's at best. Old pastel striped wallpaper, worn red "velvet" bedspreads, old non-HDTVs. Overall, the whole hotel has an old and tired air, past its prime. The worst part was one morning as I was brushing my teeth... the water coming from the faucet turned brown, almost like tea. I complained, but was told they were "doing some work" and that if I waited, the water would clear up. It certainly wasn't worth the $95/night I paid.

Great Time
By Andy, 07/12/08
I would like to set the record straight for this Magnificent Hotel. After reading the other review, I was concerned about staying here, but after staying at John Ascuaga's Nugget Hotel, I can tell you that this hotel is a complete class act. The hotel is just outside of Reno in Sparks, which we now see as a definite benefit (after visiting Reno). The tall towering hotel stands alone in its class, a true 5 star establishment. Free parking, extremely courteous staff, clean fantastic rooms, an amazing view from the 20th floor, ULTRA MAGNIFICENT POOL, ( the kids never wanted to leave), a great game arcade for the kids, work out room, restaurants and a word class casino---- all make for a Class A establishment. Our room was clean, tidy, and refreshed daily with towels shampoo and soap. Beds were clean, roomy and very comfortable. The hotel was very, very clean, and maintenance was seen daily, vacuuming, dusting, and mirror cleaning.(lots of that) I was very happy with my stay and would highly recommend John Ascuaga's Nugget to anyone. This is the best place in the Reno/ Sparks area , hands down! I will definitely come back.

Will go once a year!
By Greg D, 06/02/08
Greg Debroux My wife and I have been going to the nugget for the past 3 years and we are going again July 2008. Service, food, shuttle drivers and all staff are professional and would suggest staying at the Nugget if you are going to Rano. Last year we arrived and were waiting for the shuttle to take us to the hotel. The driver that shuttles airline crews saw us waitng and took the time to change his schedule and take us to the hotel.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/08
Booked into room 1234, had errands to do, room seemed nice enough , two beds.. one when lowering sheets had hair ( no need to give description), slept in other bed.. in morning took my shower, my husband asked me how many soaps I used told him one.. and laughed.. then he showed me in the shower , shelf. two used soaps.. and not ours... ewwww, oh the hair dryer, had dried blood on it.. and I got pics to prove it.. we told the check out supervisor..but ... they did not seem to care.. good hired help hard to get. and one that care for who they work for , hard to find these days... I would not recommend this motel to anyone.. stay at circus circus.. much cleaner.. and considerate.. so I will always remember May 27th... oh the .. Oyster Bar..... oyseters, were old, and the muscles well needed strong glassed to find them.. very small.. supper was disappointing... for those who want to eat good seafood and if in vegas.. well try the Santa Fe station... awesome.. and not expensive...

Typical casino hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/08
Hotel is pretty much the same as most any other large hotel in Nevada, except not as ambitious as the theme hotels on the Las Vegas strip (Bellagio, Venetian, etc.) Then again, it's not quite as expensive either. The indoor pool is really nice. The negative about our last stay is that the night we arrived (from driving all the way from Monterey) construction was underway. We heard hammering on and off all night long. Fortunately the next night was New Year's Eve and construction was off.

Don't Go Here!
By Unhappy Okie, 01/05/08
This is a terrible place to go. The people are rude, the rooms are dark and very unkept. My husband and I went there for a little R & R time and it was just awful. Wehad reservations to stay 6 nights and it was so bad that we left after only 2 nights. There were no lights (I mean no lights) in the bathroom. Had to stand in front of the window to get enough light to put on make-up. The room was very, very outdated and in bad need of refurbishing. I have never seen such rude people working in the casino. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Outstanding performance
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/07
I have travelled the world in the past year and I have had some good and bad experiences. The Nugget has got to be one of the best places that I have stayed during that year - beat out Vega$ if you ask me! I frequent The Nugget at least 4 times a year for the past 4 years and I have never had a bad experience. The very first time that I stayed there, every time that I left my room, and later return, my key wouldn't work. After about the 4th time that I did this (mind you I kept leaving the room to gamble and such) the Front Desk Staff upgraded me to a luxary suite for the remaining 4 days and complimentary food vouchers for the steakhouse. I have no complaints and look forward to going up there again next weekend!

Terrible Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/07
I checked into the Nugget on September 3, 2007. The next morning I called the Front Desk to ask if any animals had been in my room because I had bites all over my legs and they were really itching. They told me that they did not allow animals. I told them that something was in the room because I had bites all over my legs. I kept taking showers to relieve the itching. The hotel made no effort to check the room or give me another room. I checked out of the hotel the morning of fifth of Sept. I checked out early because I was so miserable. When I came home I went to see my doctor and he confirmed bed bug bites. I called the Nugget and spoke to Security and he referred me to the Risk Administrator. I was told to send the Witness Statement that they sent me along with my expenses and the doctors report. I did and they did not honor what they said they would do. Instead they sent me a letter telling me that they had the room inspected by an outside agency and showed no evidence of bugs. They conveniently did this some time later after I notified them of the incident. I have traveled to third world countries and not experienced this. I even called the health department in that county. I will never stay there again.
