Carson Valley Inn, Minden

My family decided to stay at CVI while we were in town for my grandmother's memorial service. We have been customers of this establishment for MANY years, but had never stayed in the hotel previously. We selected rooms in the Motor Inn. The first room that we were given smelled of smoke, although it was advertised as non-smoking. We called the front desk the next morning to discuss the situation. We asked that we be moved to another room, which they were able to accommodate. Once we arrived in our new room there were several things wrong with the room - the air conditioner didn't work, the coffee maker didn't work and one of the light bulbs were burned out. The maintenance department quickly fixed the broken coffee pot and light and assured us that the air conditioning was also fixed. The air conditioning still wasn't operating properly and we called maintenance once again. They came and said that it was working fine. Since we were out of our room all day, we assumed the air would be working and fine for sleeping that evening. But we returned to the room and found that we had to manually turn on the fan and then about 15 minutes later the we could turn on the air conditioning, but once it went off, none of it would come back on. So we had no air for our second evening. We we called the front desk the next morning, Elizabeth or "Liz" as she went by was very rude and said that we will need to speak with her manager directly because there was nothing wrong with the air. Again we were gone all day (to my grandmother's memorial service) and when we returned, we had a extremely long and rude message from the manger - Matt Carter. My mother called him back and he proceeded to not even let her talk - but rather yelled at her about how she wasn't going to get a free room and there was nothing wrong with the air. Basically accusing her of lying about the whole situation. Keep in mind my mother had just buried her mother earlier in the day. My mother asked who his manager was and he was he was the boss. Then he proceeded to give us the general manager's name (with whom I have a call into currently). I have worked in a service industry for over 12 years and would NEVER talk to any customer or treat anyone with such disrespect! This is an outrage and I hope that people will consider this feedback before staying at their establishment in the future.

Quaint, and fun. A good place for a get away without the crowds. Fiona's was wonderful as was Michaels. So much to do in this town. Rooms and service were great. Can't beat the rates!

There's plenty to keep you busy and restaurants are close and just a friendly atmosphere. The rooms were clean and cozy and beautiful views of the mountains. We are thinking about coming again soon.

The people are friendly, the food is the best around... It's a great little place. Katie's, Fiona's, Michael's, PJ's, Job's Perk... They're all great experiences, and that's just the food! Strongly recommended. :)

If you love cigarette smoke, this is the place for you,even the non-smoking rooms are full of it. The staff and location are all very nice,it's just that breathing the air should shorten your life span at least a day for every day spent there. By all means don't allow children to stay here. It used to be quite a nice place.

good old-fashioned service with a smile. Everything you need at a low price. Friendly staff from valet to maid service. Food was great. Room was clean and big enough for 2 people to be comfortable. Indoor pool and hot tubs are warm, clean and well maintained with a great outdoor view. Exercise facility was good for a quick work out. Arcade was just enough for an hour of fun for the kids (friendly and attentive staff there too). Casino is perfect for light action and slots (not crowded). Easy to get in and out of the hotel and only 25 minute drive up the mountain to South Lake Tahoe. I would stay there again for sure and recommend it for others. I never write reviews but in this case the accommodations over-delivered.

We love everything about it. We always have a great time and recommend it to all our friends and relatives. The service and all the attractions are great, we can always find something to do at the Inn. You never have to leave and everyone is so nice and accomadating and always willing to go the extra on whatever you should need.

I love staying at CVI as the service is excellent and the prices are great!! I travel quite a bit and it is on the top of my list, my last visit was with a friend from Enhland who also travels alot and she was so impressed that we came back for a third night. Of course it could have been that the band "Hotel California" was playing downstairs at the time but that just added to the excitement of our stay. I live in Minden NV,anb CVI is a great place for locals too.Rooms,food and gaming are second to none!It's a great place to spend a weekend or just an evening.You'll love this place!
