Wanted to stay at the Cal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/10
My husband has recently become wheelchair bound. He missed his trips to Las Vegas and his doctor suggested that he go. We were disappointed that the Cal's handicapped room had only one bed. We took our daughter along to help us. It would have been difficult for her to stay in the same room without another bed.
The hotel needs a family or handicapped bathroom. Many elderly come with a child of the opposite sex or spouse to help them. I had to go with my husband into the men's room. Since it was not a busy time, luckily there were only a few men in the room. Even if we had been at the Cal, we would have to go to our room and that, too, could bave been inconvenient. We did not stay at the Cal, but at Main Street because of the handicapped room accommodations. We are more comfortable at Cal and do most of our playing there.
I strongly believe that you need to change the attitudes of the people in the cashier's cage. I have always felt this way. The reservationists, however, were very helpful and friendly when I called for information.
If you made it more convenient for the elderly, I would certainly recommend it to our relatives and friends.
