Kind staff, average room, adequate stay
I arrived on a Saturday evening, and was initially disappointed by the appearance of the facility. It looked and felt outdated. The lobby was small and the hallway leading to the dining area was dark. The decor seemed 15 years old. I shouldn't have expected a Hilton in the middle of Nebraska, but this was Norfolk, a fairly well off area, I'm told.
The room itself was clean, and again seemed outdated. Maybe it was the style of the carpeting. Maybe it was the 27" television that looked like it was from the early 1990s. Maybe it was the key to get into the room instead of a key card that I had become so accustomed to at other hotels. Whatever it was, the room was, well, adequate, which is all I needed.
The event I was in town for ended much earlier than I had expected or planned for, and although I had planned to stay for two nights, it became apparent to me too late that I really didn't need to stay a second night in Norfolk. So, I was pleasantly and extremely surprised and pleased when I checked out at 4pm that the Norfolk Country Inn only charged me for a single night. Nice!! The service was great.
