NOT KID FRIENDLY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/08
July - 2008. Though a lovely place with golf, tennis ,a pool, hot tubs available- It is NOT kid friendly. The people who stay at this place have little tolerance for 7-12 year old range. There is no designated area for them to run outside. The teens are allowed to charge freely on your room number with no questions asked. there is an "adventure" company available on site for convenience, but it's cheaper to just call places yourself and easily set up reservations. Downtown whitefish and west GlACIER HAVE fine places to eat , and better food. This lodge, though nice, caters to an older crowd rather than families. More designated for business and golf. Internet is available if you have your own wireless connection/laptop. landscaping is pretty.

Not worth the price!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/08
My husband and I were very disappointed with our two night stay in July of 2008. The hotel is very run down, most doors are broken - be prepared to walking long distances from one point to the next due to poor layout. The staff was "unresponsive" to our announcement of not enjoying our stay. Most importantly this hotel was very, very over priced for what you get; no service, broken quarters, and a run down facility.

Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Lodge is Rustic with a outdoor feeling. Close to town and free transportation to almost every where I wanted to go.

We were with Globus in July, 2007, which was our first time visiting in Montana. Our visit to Grouse Mountain Lodge was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed everything about the lodge. The Clayton's

Town was great, hotel was very bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/06
We were in Whitefish in Aug 2006. The town and activities are wonderful. Everything about the hotel was sub par. All the locals we talked to said it has really gone down hill. The front desk was rude and just did not care. The concierges knew nothing more than the one line that was written for then. They also knew nothing of the big festival that was going on in Whitefish. The rooms were poorly maintained with stained carpet and mildew all over the shower. The towels were all frayed. The pool and hot tub had so much chlorine your eye would water. It was the price of an upper class hotel but something you would expect from a 1 star hotel. The room we had was next to an outside door with a broken spring. The door slammed all night, no sleep that night. They moved us to a room where the sprinkler sprayed water on our window every night at 3:00am, no sleep the other nights either. They wanted to charge us $20 to move to another room because the next room was an upgrade. We left Karen the manager phone messages (no manager was on duty every time we asked). Checking out we talked to Karen. She claimed she never picked up her phone messages for the 4 days we were there (yea right!!!!).

Not worth the money.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/06
Whitefish is a beautiful place and Grouse Mountain Lodge is beautiful on the outside - nice golf course, tennis court. Rooms, however, are plain vanilla - definitely not worth the price. We could also hear the person above walking in the middle of the night. The fitness center is tiny and there was no doorknob - I thought that looked pretty shoddy. Having said that, the food was great and the location was convenient. You can walk to town (it's just a mile). I would not stay there again unless I didn't care about the room and just liked to golf or play tennis.

Don't expect Internet
By Randy B, 08/05/05
The Lodge was good, ample parking, good service, reasonable meals. What majorly sucked was their advertised free wireless internet. It didn't work the entire time I was there (5 days) This was trying with 2 different laptops including sitting in the lobby next to the Access Point. I had to resort to use their antique computer in the business center that had windows 98 on it. I should have hired a Flathead Indian to send smoke signals. I won't be back unless they wire their rooms with Network Jacks.

Lovely experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/05
We visited the Lodge in November of 2004 and had a great experience. We loved the decor in the lobby (very rustic and welcoming) and the rooms were adequate, with nice views over the golf course. The pool was great for the kids, and we loved the outdoor hottub. The only downside was the service in the restaurant, with staff standing around talking and not appreciating being interrupted to serve us. But the reception staff were fantastic and helpful, and room service was lovely (huckleberry pancakes!). Also very helpful was the shuttle to the Amtrak train station. We'd love to come back someday.
