The best place for a wedding and honeymoon!!!!
By LISAB, 03/14/06
My family is from this area. My Mom actually lives in McAllister. So for me it was just like visiting an old friend. My now husband however is from South Dakota and the expirience was nothing less then perfect. We got married and spent the weekend there. Staying in the marvelous hotel, the ghost tour and all the fun people made our first hours of marriage the most wonderful time of all. we will never forget it and are planning on going back soon.

Going back in time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/05
It is fun to stay right in an old mining town. The Fairweather is decorated in a simple, old-fashioned way -- genteel, but a bit faded. My single room had one springy bed and a sink -- with the bathroom down the hall. It looked rather charming in the daytime, but after taking the "ghost tour" that evening and hearing that the room next to mine was "very haunted", it looked less welcoming that night. I slept with the light on!! -- as though a ghost would care :-) -- for comfort and heard and felt nothing unusual. Nice upstairs porch to watch the main street traffic go by. Drive up to boot hill on your way out of town. More restaurants in Virginia City than nearby Nevada City so I was overall happy with my choice. A unique experience.
