Yuck
By never, 5/9/11
We booked through the Internet. Receive com. # for a 2 queen smoking room, handicap accessible. We get there to find they are smoke free and we are on the 2nd floor-- no elevator. they did give us $10 off and change our room to the bottom floor because we had the con. paper. This did nothing for the toenail clippings on the carpet, the smell of mold, the wallpaper hanging off the wall nor the ceiling falling down. Never, ever again

Love the people and the hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/4/11
I like the changes they made and a great stay. Great free breakfast off the menu. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, rooms were very nice and roomy, we had rooms on the first floor and second floor, rooms upstairs had different color furniture but just as nice, although the beds were double beds rather than the queen size beds that we had downstairs, but we paid almost $10 less for upstairs rooms than the downstairs rooms. Visited the pub and grill food was great and Cara was just a delight.

Nice Hotel in the south part of town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/1/11
We booked this hotel on line - not quite sure what hotel we were going to get, we were pleased to find we were staying at the Clarion. This hotel has been remodeled fairly recently, and the whole hotel was quite nice. When we checked in, we asked to have our room near the two other rooms for our group (we had traveled with some family members). The woman at reception was very kind and gave us three rooms together. When we got to the rooms and saw that they had two double beds instead of kings, we returned to the front desk, and the woman was kind and accommodating enough to change our rooms. Really outstanding service from the hotel staff we interacted with. The room was clean and very spacious The bed was comfortable, the bathroom very clean - really, everything about the hotel was very nice. We enjoyed the free Internet in our room (it was a bit slow, but we didn't have any trouble with accessing it). We would definitely stay at the Springfield Clarion again. Very nice hotel!

Great Location tostayon the way to St. Louis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/11
We had to stop over night due to a snow storm and I would definitely recommend staying here! The rooms were nice size, clean, and quiet. The breakfast buffet was amazing. They served scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, pastries, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. I must say it was the best breakfast offered by any hotel I've ever stayed. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. If visiting the Springfield area, I would definitely stay here. locationwas a bit hard to find but the friendly directions we got from Jamil ( Person on the phone ) was great.

Choose another hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/10
Hotel is horrible. I used a coupon off the internet and felt as though I was being punished by being put on second floor in a room with a window that overlooked a storage room and stunk like sewer. Did I mention the hotel had no elevators or at least that is what the clerk at the desk said. Fire alarms going off at 2:00 am due to a malfunction for an hour. Hallways smell of smoke. Really unclean hotel. Some of the staff was helpful after complaining room stunk we were finally moved to another room. No mention of any Breakfast Buffet being free either? I truly would not recommend this hotel. Several other hotels are in the area I suggest you try one of those. We did not have that choice since we were with a large group. All were suppose to be in same building however that did not happen.

WOW what a great hotel, nice location
By Lisa, 6/27/10
We booked three rooms through the internet and when we checked in it was agreat experience, young lady at the desk was friendly and very helpful. They have a very nice breakfast room that serves a nice buffet, we were given a free breakfast coupon, However we also were asked if wanted to upgrade to an all you can eat buffet for a few more $. we were given 3 non smoking rooms, what a difference from last year, room was clean and totally non smoking. We got a room on the first floor and the other 2 rooms were on the 2nd floor room was very nicely decorated and they looked almost brand new. Although the decoration were different from the first to the 2nd floor but they were just as nice. We will be back and we like the that and we will be booking directly with the desk, Stays was a great help.

Great value and great location
By Ron, 5/20/10
What a wonderful surprise! Friendly staff, comfortable bed and pillows, in fact great pillows, nice pool area. The breakfast buffet was free and included fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, pancakes, etc. I stay in hotels several times a year and this one is definitely my first choice when traveling to the Springfield area. We were here a year ago and did not like the management or staff , but what a difference a year makes. We will be back.

Do not stay here
By clint, 3/7/09
Hotel is run down and the rooms are smoke filled. I can not believe I stayed here. Only thing to do is to complain to all that will listen. Do not stay here. For the price you pay, go to a Motel 6.

I agree, RUN!!!
Rooms are not remodled very well. All rooms smell like smoke, even though they are non-smoking. The sports bar does not have very good food or atmosphere. Very smoky. Free breakfast had to be free. Eggs were powdered and dry. Yogurt was best choice, but warm. Even the meeting rooms were tacky, some of which are simply rooms with the bed taken out, but the bathrooms are still in there... Weird. Treadmill was broken, or the belt stopped moving and i about broke my neck. Exercise room again was two old rooms with the wall knocked down. There are 3 other Hamton Inn's, Drury's and Holiday's that are a little more iexpensive n this town, but worth so much more.

RUN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/19/06
We booked three rooms through the internet and when we checked in it was made very clear that internet customers are not valued. We were told we could have the free breakfast available to other customers as we booked through the internet, we were given a smoking rooms even though we had requested non-smoking rooms, and the person at the desk advised us we only save $3 per room by booking through the internet. We could have saved more money buy using our discount through our employer. Had we not gone through the internet we would have never booked with the Clarion. My son had seasonal allergies and he was fine until staying at the Clarion. He woke up the next morning and he could hardly breath. I woke up with one of my eyes swollen almost shut and had to go to the dr. when I got home. It was then that I found out my swollen eye was caused by a severe allergy to mold. My son is very allergic to mold which is what caused his breathing problems after staying at the Clarion. It cost me $25 for the Dr. visit and $9 for the medication. The Clarion is not a three star hotel and they don't care for internet customers.
