Holiday Inn, Joplin

We had a contracted group of rooms at this hotel for our dance studio. I made my reservation for a room with two double beds in Oct of 2011. I called and confirmed it three weeks prior to arrival. Upon arrival I was informed that they were out of double bed rooms and that I was being given a king bed and a pull out sofa bed. When I complained about this, I was told that the reservation only guarantees a room, two double beds was a request that they don't have to keep. They apparently had a large unexpected group arrive and gave them all of the rooms that our dance studio had already reserved. Our room was next to the main door leading outside, so all I heard until 11:30p was the door slamming as people came and went. Children running a crying/yelling in the hall. The bed was supposed to be a Serta pillow top mattress. It was the hardest bed I have ever slept in. As if all of this wasn't enough, the breakfast buffet that we were supposed to get in our contract, they refused to honor. We had an email with the contract in it, but we were told that the person who made that contract no longer worked there and they would not be honoring it. That left an entire studio of girls ready to dance the next morning running around town looking for breakfast. I wouldn't recommend my dog stay at this hotel. The customer service was horrendous.

I've attended two different conventions here in two months. Housekeepers were efficient, staff was friendly and courteous. Room rates are economical. The Manager's Reception every evening is a nice touch. I will definitely return.

Nice place and a nice place to stay as far as comfort and cleanliness. People were friendly at the check in and during the stay. However their organization and management skills have a lot to be desired. First some important notes on the end stand were taken by housekeeping. Management and housekeeping went and found them in the dumpster after about an hour. I give them a lot a credit and they were quire cordial. However checking out was a disaster. Wrong name and address was on my bill. This goes to question how I was allowed to get two replacement keys for the room! The in attempt to fix this even prior to check out, it took three days and multiple phone calls to correct the name, address and priority club number on the invoice. I will have to see if the priority club points really show up for this week long stay. After all the baloney, it really spoiled what could have been a wonderful week otherwise. I give them two stars for service for dumpster diving but take away three for all the time it took just to get the name corrected on the invoicing. Conveniently for them though, they had the right credit card number the entire time!

I really like the hotel very clean hotel and the staff was very friendly we travel with a dog and it is a dog friendly hotel. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Great Kid hotel, too!

The room was spacious and comfortable. We stayed with our kids and they had plenty of room to roam. The room was well laid out and had convenient, but safe, after-hours access.

This is a nice hotel, comfortable rooms and decent food. I liked that they accomodate pets and the restaurant is open at 6am in the morning. I think this is one of the only hotels in joplin to have a restaurant.
