3rd times a charm....not :-(
By smiley, 7/16/12
Stayed here before, this is our 3rd visit. This is not a place for singles or couples, it is family friendly and dog friendly. The hallways and restaurant will be full of children running amuck. Each time we have stayed, we have been forced to take the stairs due to the place being so full, so I suggest you stay on a lower level. That being said, during summer months, the lower level rooms do not cool down, they stay warm and humid. Mic you don't mind walking 10 flights of stairs, stay upper to stay comfy. Amenities are basic, since our first stay we have not returned to the restaurant, it is expensive and offers minimal selection that is far from impressive. Water park is open to hotel guests AS WELL as day passes for any other guest so it is always full of all kinds of uh....people. Saturday's are terrible days to go, especially if you need a life jacket for your kiddo, they are first come first serve. Water park is great for all ages but I think adults and small children have more fun. Cabanas can be rented, we did, but there is nothing special other than there are peed on chairs and a phone that we were told our food had to be picked up, not delivered. We only return because our small children think this is great but after this go around, we will return to Great Wolfe Lodge for the same price. P.s. eat before 6 pm, the eateries in water park close by 7 or 8 and restaurant at 10. Vending machines are always empty but offer nothing more than chips and candy bars. Take advantage of your mini fridge and stock up, use e mini coffee maker to make your own oatmeal and coffee.

Not worth $185.00
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/7/12
We stayed at this place on Dec. 29, 2011. We thought it looked nice online but when we were there my whole family was so disappointed. The room was too small and it was very noisy at night. The room heater was making unexplainable noise that bothers my whole family that night. The bath tub does not have a shower curtain. My husband asked the front desk after 40 minutes someone knocked at the door and the house keeper handed the shower curtain to my husband. like it was our job to do it. I had to put the shower curtain by myself. I asked for additional shampoo and conditioner for my girls cause we forgot to bring our own. The front desk told me they are out, then after 2 hours they put one little shampoo only in our room. Front desk was very un-organized and rude. What type of business is this hotel doing? It was not worth of what we paid for. I will not reccomend this place to anyone. We will not go back there ever. Good thing we did not make more than one night reservation.

Worst Hotel Experience EVER
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/12
So many things were wrong. We arrived an we had been charged for a no show the night before...we had cancelled and just asked for New Years Package. They did fix it, but then more problems. We got to our room, after waiting FOREVER for elevator, which we were told after check in, was being repaired, our room was 100 degrees or more! We called and were told they would send someone up. He came and " fixed" it. Room never did cool down entire stay. We booked the room, solely for the purpose of the New Years Package which included several events. They did have a very nice buffet, only to find that we were suppose to have received a coupon at check in. They made us go back to the desk to get it! Then, we went to water park for what promised to be a night of " various activities".... No announcements were made about such things. Around 11:45, we asked the lifeguards where the " Ball Drop and Toast" was going to be that was scheduled and out of the four I asked, no one knew!!! Finally, we followed the crowds and they dropped several beachbalsas with hundreds landing in the pool and the lifeguards would not allow our children to go get! No toast either! Upon leaving, after a long wait on a luggage cart that was never to be found and an even longer wait for the elevators, we checked out. I tried calling the hotel for two days. To speak with a manager....no one would answer the phones. I even tried calling reservations, guest room options, group ticketing, to no avail. No answer. Finally got someone to answer, who claimed to be a manager and she actually started to ARGUE with me!! I asked to speak to the hotel manager and she would yell over me and cut me off!! Word to the wise, the Waterpark is fun for kids but the hotel is awful!! Customer service is the worst I have ever seen at a hotel!! The so called management fights with you and tells you they are right and you are wrong no matter what! We left and went to the Sheraton at Crowne Plaza. Much nicer. I will not return to this Holiday Inn and I am a Priority Club member. They need to get their "priorities" straight !! We spent over 350.00 the ONE night we were there to be treated like this???? I have never left a bad review before...... But this one earned it !!

Will not stay here again
By Shiloh, 6/19/10
I called and booked 2 queen beds with a mini frig, microwave, etc. Never got a confirmation. When I checked in I got 2 double beds, no frig, microwave, hair dryer etc. When I complained they said there was nothing they could do and since I had pre-paid there were no refunds. Cleaning staff starts knocking on door at 8 am to clean your room. Complained about this and the next day they did not knock but instead we heard them talking extremely loud in the hall with their radios. 4 people in our room but you only get 2 towels unless requesting more. Power went out 4 days (mulitple times) during our week stay. Says they have cable tv but this is only if it is working. Over half of the channels would not program into the tv. we got the local channles and some sports channels but nothing else. NO shows for children to watch. (such as disney, nick, etc) Their cartoon channel was adult swim. Lounge in lobby charges an additonal 20% of bill plus an additonal delivery charge for room service. We ordered pizza from a local Pizza Hut but they were not allowed to deliver to our room because we did not order through the hotels restaurant. We placed our used pizza box on top of our trash can with our soda cans. Housekeeping moved our pizza box and cans to in front of out tv and dumped the trash but left whatever we did not fit in out trach can. Air conditioner really loud (difficult to sleep) and then it broke on our last day there (it is 100+ outside). Their solution was a box fan. I was told ac was out throughout hotel but when I went to the lobby it was working just fine there. Got locked out of my room after first night. Front desk said they forgot to program my key for the entire stay. No drawers to put clothes in and only 2 hangers in closet. When housekeeping made room it looked like they had simply put comforter over bed without making it. Elevators are EXTREMELY slow. We had to wait several minutes for one to arrive. There are three elevators for our part of the hotel and an additional 2 for the other part. We were on the 7th floor. So we did not want to carry our luggage up 7 flights. Indoor pool was in poor condition. The bottom was flaking off and the water was very cloudy throughout. The hot tub did not work and was sectioned off with tape so it looked like a crime scene. The room was nothing special. It is definately not what I expect from Holiday Inn. The average cost was $135.00 a night and definately not worth it.

Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/20/10
I checked in at 9pm and while looking for a electrical outlet (hard to find one) to plug my cell charger into I noticed a hair bow on the floor by the bed. I lifted the bed skirt and looked under the bed and saw a shoe and a stuffed toy. This discovery promted me to pull the bed sheet back and yikes!!!! there was hair of all kinds in the bed, on and under the pillow cases and the bed spread had some type of stains on it, looked like blood. I immediately contacted the front desk and complained, they offered to give me a different room but I chose to have the room cleaned and all bedding changed. They sent one lady to do the work and it took her until 11pm to change the beds at which time I ran her off so I could get some sleep. The staff cleaned the floor the next day. The bathroom floor had hair scattered in the corners and the tile grout was brown all around the toilet, it obviously hadn't been cleaned in months and the sink area was filthy. I would recommend if you plan to stay in this hotel you bring along a bottle of disinfectant spray and some clean linen.

Not Happy AT All
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/09
My family used the Sheraton Sports Complex for our family reunion, I was not pleased I paid $113.00 per night. There are no Queen sized beds, there was no refridgerator or Microwave in the room, I called the front desk to request a refridgerator, for an extra 10.00 dollars I got one and a roll away bed that I did not request. The toilet leaked all over the bathroom floor, maitenance came up and fixed that, we ask if he could look at the AC, he informed us that it was 107 degrees outside, he changed the filter and bought a box fan into the room. Not to mention that the elevators continued to break down my mother and several other elderly members of my family had to ride the freight elevator up from the lower level banquet rooms. For that kind of money paid per night, I am disapointed to say the least, I would not recommend anyone stay for this amount of money

Lord of the Flies
By Patrick P, 11/4/08
I normally stay at the Sheraton on the Plaza when in KC but my travel agent made a mistake. During the evening, I killed two flies and didn't think much of it. I woke early the next morning ( 5am) and proceeded to kill about 6 or 7 more. Since I was checking out that morning didn't see much sense in changing rooms. The AC unit was horribly loud. Not sure about you, but fly infestation is pretty disgusting. Even though the remodled the place recently, I'll never come back. Staff was friendly.

What a Wonderful Hotel
By Simone, 8/26/08
I can't believe half of these review. I think the Sheraton KC Sports Complex is one of Kansas City, MO highlights. The employees there are super friendly. Starting out with the reservationist who helped me book my stay. Down to the front desk clerk who checked me out. My room was very clean. The water resort was beautiful. All staff members were knowledgeable of the hotel. Overall my stay was wonderful. I plan to stay there some time in the near future.

worst stay ever at any hotel
By UNHAPPYCAMPER, 8/24/08
I brought my 13 yr. old son for a birthday gift to see the Chiefs. The shuttle to the stadium was an hour late ,plus we had to walk 1/4 of a mile from P/U point to ride it back. Was placed on hold three times and hung up on twice. Then lied to about shuttles leaving time and location. We were comped by the hotel manager only to be charged a week later . We will defitnetly not be staying there ever again.

Horrible Stay
By Dana, 5/30/08
We had 5 adults and one child with us on our stay; planned a family fun filled weekend and it was horrible. The TV did not work, the room was NOT cleaned, they person at the front desk said the water park closed at 9, when in fact it closed at 10 and we could have enjoyed more time there. They told us someone was coming to fix the TV and they never showed up. Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. The front desk did not help us with most of our questions. The 1st floor, where we stayed, was HUMID because it was on the pool level. The room was hot all night long. Finally, our key would not work half the time and we had to wait over 30 minutes for someone to help us. The water park was fun, but we would NEVER stay at this hotel again.
