This Is Not A Hotel But A Zoo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/08
Me and a couple of my co workers were going to stay a night here and the rooms was a complete mess. We went to our rooms and there was mildew on the walls where the wall paper had fallen. The outside glass was so filfthy until you couldn't see through the room window, and the sheets look like a dog has been rolling around in dirt and laid in the middle of the bed. The linen had wholes in them and water had ran out into the floor. We went back to the front desk and got our money back. Upon doing that the owner asked if he could show us another room, but we could have imagine what those rooms looks like. On top of that a gentlemen was sitting in the lobby that had slip and fallen due to the authorities of this building didn't take care of. We can see why he fell because they don't take proper care of this building and wants people to pay 50 to 60 dollars a night to stay in a place that is not fit for dogs. We want to really stress the point and let you know that this hotel is not up to the standards of the name that they are carrying. Many Howard Johnson Hotels we have stayed in due to our business has really been a hotel and not just some rat house. So please take the advise of the others ones as well as this one, simply because they are true and accurate. The best place to stay is LaQuinta Inn, Quality Inn, or Sun Suites. We guarantee you will not be dissappointed. So when you see the sign in Hattiesburg that says Howard Johnson, press the gas pedal and speed up because it is not worth it. This ho motel must be own by the other set of Johnson's (the broke ones)!!!! LOL that is the TRUTH if it hasn't ever been told!!!!! The Hard Workers Searching For A Place To Rest..........

AN INNOCENT FAMILY
By Elder, 7/26/08
THIS PLACE IS VERY NASTY! MY WIFE AND FAMILY STAYED THERE AND THE PROCTECTANT FOR ELECTRICAL WIRING FROM THE AC WAS CUT OFF AND WIRES JUST TWISTED TOGETHER! I ALSO SLIPPED AND FELL DUE TO UNCONCERNED OWERNERS AND MANGERS OF THIS FACILITY. THE OWNER NEVER ONCE SHOWED HIS FACE AFTER HE FOUND OUT THAT I SPRUNG MY BACK FROM THE SLIP AND FALL. THEN THE DISTRICT MANAGER WANTED TO CALL THE POLICE ON ME AND MY FAMILY BECAUSE I STATED THAT I WAS GOING TO REPORT THE HOTEL WITH THE BUILDING INSPECTIONS OF THE CITY OF HATTIESBURG. SO BY SAYING THAT TO SAY THIS, I ADVICE ANYONE WHEN YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH THIS HOTEL IN HATTIESBURG, TO RUN AND RUN FAST. OH BEFORE I FORGET, THIS MORNING WHEN MY WIFE AND I GOT UP THERE WAS ROACHES CRAWLING ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE ASSISTANT MANAGER REPLIED WHEN CALLED, "THERE IS NO WAY ROACHES COULD BE IN THE HOTEL WHEN WE HAVE SPRAYED"! SO REMEMBER WHEN YOU SEE THE SO CALLED HOWARD JOHNSON IN HATTIESBURG, RUN RUN RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!

A night in H E double hockey sticks
By Abbie, 3/13/08
Where to begin.....I went to Hattiesburg to see my husband before he left for Iraq. After an 8 hour drive we checked into our rooms to find them nasty! The trim around the room had fallen, tooth paste spit still in the sink and on the mirror, trash in the floor, smoke alarm laying on the floor behind the door, cable was not hooked up (spliced from another room). The sheet had not been changed in who knows how long. I call the front desk and they sent house keeping up. The maid brought some sheets and left. I ended up changing them myself. She showed up about 15 minutes later to clean the sink. The front desk called after I had gotten my daughter in bed...offered to move us. By then I am extremly tried and mad...told them no, not tonight. They "checked me out" the next morning without telling me. I had been calling off and on all day to se if they had gotten us new rooms and they kept telling m that they were working on it. Every hotel in Hattiesburg is full...At 4 pm on march 6th they tell me they checked me out!! I have less than 24 hours to spen with my husband before he leaves for at least 9 months. The general manager would not return my calls, she still as not returned my calls as of March 12. I will NEVER stay in Howard Johnson again!

TRAVELERS BEWARE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/07
DO NOT STAY HERE. While on our way to the gulf, we checked in to this FILTHY place. The room was absolutely the most disgusting hotel room I have ever seen. The lobby had a leaky roof. The carpeting in the room was wet and so filthy that my son's socks were BLACK. The bathroom was filthy with bugs running around. I turned back the covers to find DIRT smeared on the linens - comforter and sheets. They obviously had not been washed from the previous filthy occupant. I immediately returned to the front desk and demanded my money be refunded. As I told the desk clerk, I would rather sleep in my truck. ONCE AGAIN - DO NOT STAY HERE!! I wish I had seen these many negative reviews prior to this experience.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!
By ginadell, 7/31/07
My family and I were on our way to Florida for a weeks vacation. I had made reservations here for overnight on our way. When we first went to our room the card keys would not work, so I had to go back to the front desk, while waiting on the man to wait on me by the way he was on the phone with someone who had just checked in their room and apparantly was not very happy. Anyway I got more keys when we opened the door the room smelled terrible, so i went and bought air freshener only half of the lights worked. My boys were taking a shower that night and started screaming because the water was brown & yellow coming out of the faucet. It was the most disgusting thing. When we left the next morning the lady said In mississippi we have yellow tint to our water I said No this was brown. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE TO SLEEP IN YOUR CAR YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF. THEY SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE HEALTH DEPT

Do Not Stay Here !!
By joeld49, 7/8/07
This was one of the filthiest motels I have ever stayed in. The carpet was so filthy that if you walk on it barefoot your foot would be black and that is no exageration. The pool was unusable the entire stay. I am contacting the Howard Johnson home office about this facility. The bathroom was horrendous and falling apart. I repeat do not stay at this motel in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The young people running the front desk did a good job on their part.

Don't Stay Here Folks!
By Robin, 7/6/06
We were here from 6/2-6/5-06 for a family reunion and occupied 2 rooms. In our first room we were given, the cable didn't work, so the maint. men were in and out several times right after we arrived to fix that. Then we found out the air conditioning didn't work and they tried to fix that but couldn't. Ceilings were patchy where areas of spackling were missing, bathroom sink leaked and had mold growing around faucet, as was mildew growing around the caulking in the tub. Bleach is a wonderfully cheap cleaner people! Our room had neither microwave or refrigerator that was advertised on the website. Then next morning we requested to be moved to a different room and they had no problem with that as soon as one was cleaned. We were gone for over 4 hours and when we arrived back we still had to wait for the housekeeper to go and clean the new room. Our second room had wires hanging out of the walls where the phone jacks went in and where an electrical socket was "supposed" to be, out of 3 lamps, only one was workable. We still had no microwave or refrigerator in this room. The information listing on the phone was unreadable. The pool was the only reasonably nice thing about this motel. I will NEVER again stay at another Howard Johnson's as long as I live, this stay was a complete nightmare from the time we arrived. Don't count on the motel security, we found him asleep on the couch at 6am one morning in the lobby! I'm not sure where the pics on the outer page of this site were taken, with the nice oriental looking garden and beautiful rooms, but they sure weren't taken at this motel in Hattiesburg! Please folks, keep looking further for a room!

Horrible Place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/06
The rooms were dirty, the water was brown, the furniture was broken. There was no ice in the ice machines. We asked for housekeeping twice as soon as we got there and they never came. We had the room reserved for a week and left after one night.

Will never stay here again-Awful
By Carmon, 7/5/05
We reserved 2 rooms for July 1st.This was one of the worst exprences 0f my many hotel stays. And a disgrace to carry the Howard Johnson name. The room and Bathroom was filthy, Rat droppings on the floor,Toe and finger nail clippings from some previous occupant. It was so bad I made my children shower in their shoes.and we slept in sleeping bags. We was on our way to Florida for a weeks vacation and this is not the way to start a good time.
