Thrifty Motel, St Cloud

As we walked in we wernt sure what to expect, but as the door opened we were plesantly suprised by the very spacious, clean, and comfortable room. We also liked that there was a fridge and microwave in each room. The large amount of counter space was great. Service was excellent and we will most definately be going back!!!

When I visit St. Cloud it's not like i'm expecting an Ocean view, St. cloud is a small town. I'm there for business and only sleep in the room, beats paying 100 to 200 dollars for the other brand hotels that base their prices as the same as hotels in Chicago that have a Michigan Lake view. Yes you pay for what you get and for the price what more can I seriously ask for than a clean bed,clean bathroom,clean sheets and towels.I only gave it a three star on location because if you didn't know your way around the area, you could possibly take a few extra minutes ti find it. It works well for me and I'm THANKFUL that their are more inexpensive hotels in the area. Some places I've had to go for business only have to national brands and I'm forced to pay at least 100 to basically have to same service. The only arguement a person could have is esthetics, if it really bothers you that much pay the extra 60-160 for an average "updated" look.

I think it's so very sad (and desperate) of the staff and owner of the thrifty motel to have to write their own reviews. half of them are more like an advetisement then a review. i personally wouldnt give this place 1 star. their are people who live there who fight on a nightly basis the police were called 3 times in the week we were their. the room was filthy and the staff look like meth heads. people if it's cheap just remember you get what you pay for.

A special thank you to the staff for finding my bag in the lobby and holding it for me. It was pouring rain, one of our cars wouldn't start, and we were pressed for time. I left a bag with an expensive medical device, medications, CD player and CD's, hair blower, cosmetics, etc., valued at well over a thousand dollars. Everything was in it, just as I had packed it! Hats off to the staff for their concern for their guests, their honesty, and for their effort in making this a safe and friendly place to stay in St.Cloud. We'll be back!

This place is great most of the employees are helpful and know st. cloud pretty good. Its a great place if your working in the st. cloud area they have weekly rates that can help reduce your cost of staying in expensive hotels. Great rooms you got a microwave and mini fridge in every room HBO the only downside is they do not accept checks. If you want an affordable room with good accommodation's check this place out the price cant be beat.

My wife and I needed a last-minute room for Saturday night this past weekend and almost everything in Saint Cloud was booked. We were not about to spend $200. After reading some of the reviews we had some second thoughts about this place, but with no real choices we thought we'd either try the motel or sleep in the car. Here's the deal: Whenever you book at a place called the "Thrifty Motel" you should adjust your expectations a little. You are paying for a bed, a shower, and a toilet, that's about it. The bed should be clean and the shower and toilet should work. To me, anything above that is a bonus. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room wasn't "nasty" like a previous reviewer commented. Instead, our room was very clean with fresh towels. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets and pillowcases. It was quiet at night so we got a good nights sleep. All in all we were happy with it for one night. And our experience with the night staff was that he was very friendly and helpful, absolutely a gentleman. For extras, our whirlpool worked great (the motel provides bubble bath), the cable TV included HBO, and we used the fridge (but not the microwave). You can make local calls for free from your room; most 5-star hotels that I've been to don't allow that. One thing I would have loved (and I would have given this a 5-star rating) is if there were a coffee maker in the room; they do have coffee in a vending machine for 25 cents or you can walk 50 feet to the Holiday gas station across the lot like I did for a little bit better cup of java. Coffee is a big deal for me in the morning. On the negative side, there is no bar or restaurant either on the premises or within short walking distance, so you will likely have to drive to get decent food and drink, but downtown is only 5 minutes away across the river. Also, the room might be a little small for some, but we were OK with it. Maybe it's just be cause our expectations were a little lower that we left feeling good, but regardless, we will go back for sure.

the thrifty motel is a great place to stay ! the staff there is very freindly and they are there to help when you need it! no other place would treat you like they do and i know i have been to many motels in my life .

Very dirty and I was asked by desk clerk which was the manager if I needed her services later. The Rooms Had used sheets and towels from the last guest. will never go back again.

the thrifty is nasty and so is every1 that works there all they do is talk about eachother and oh god dont ask about the rooms they are scary they need to train better housekeepers! The day worker at the desk is very rude, she says she is manager i cant believe the owner would hire someone like that for manager!

I have to say it's too bad that you people feel so poorly about yourself that you have to ALWAYS have to be negative about everyone & everything in life. I know you believe the stories that you ponder up about people, & that's a very sad thing. People will keep coming to the Thrifty Motel because the staff is Friendly & Real. KARMA BABY!
