Lovely Hotel
By Terri, 9/23/09
I found the Crowne Plaza to be delightful, staff friendly & accommodating. The room was gorgeous, and the sleep number bed inspired me & honey to soon purchase one. The Sunday Brunch was great! The location was walking distance to Excel Energy Center. No complaints here!

Run-a-way! Don't Stay
By Longhorn Fan, 7/11/09
Upon our arrival, we had to wait 20 minutes for an elevator to get to our room. There are over 18 floors in the hotel and only three elevators. The wait for the elevators was always ridiculous. When we got to the room, we found a tiny room with two full size beds (instead of queen size) and a television with fuzzy reception. The bathroom had the toilet placed just to the left of the sink. Get this image. While standing at the sink, brushing your teeth, your left leg is two inches from touching the side of the toilet bowl. One must reach under the counter to flush the toilet. I have NEVER seen a toilet in this location before in any hotel or motel. Now, the air conditioning unit! The thermostat was ineffective. You set the temperature and then “flip” a switch that is marked “fan,” on. The system runs continually while on and only stops when “flipped” off. We were always too cold or too hot. There was no ice machine on our floor. Staff informed me it was not working so they removed it for repair. The last problem was lack of cleanliness. We arrived at 4:00pm. On our floor near the elevators, there was an abandoned room service tray. It had dirty dishes on it. While waiting for the elevators various and numerous times, we saw staff (maids and bell boys) walk by the tray. By 9:30pm the smelly tray was still there. I called the front desk to ask it to be removed. It was. Hooray! Still, stay away from this hotel until they drop the price and become a two star hotel.

Worst Experience EVER!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/09
We've actually "stayed" here 3 times, although we technically did not stay the 3rd time, but still had to pay the outrageous rate. All 3 times the elevators did not work and we were always on the 17th floor or above. The last time we were being harrassed by other guests and did not feel safe being on the 17th floor when the elevators don't work. We were told we could get out of our booking and not have to pay (since we didn't stay), but our credit card was billed anyway. When I called to have the charge removed, they refused - this took SEVERAL phone calls as no-one knew anything and no-one returned phone calls including the "executive" office. Definitely not worth the rate, no matter what it is.

Never go there
By loves.both, 2/22/09
During my stay at the hotel, I found that the bathroom was not cleaned properly and the sheets appeared not to have been changed from the last guest. When I talked to the front desk girl, she was very rude and did not give me a good time when the sheets would be changed and the bathroom cleaned. Very poor attitude from the front desk staff and for the price they charged, the work should have been done immediatly. Never again will I stay at that hotel and will not recommend it to anyone.

I'll never stay here again
By Jeffrey, 2/16/08
I have stayed here a couple of times, and each time I have had a bad experience. Issues: 1. The hotel's parking ramp has an extremely low height limit - if you are driving a pickup or larger SUV you will not be able to park in the hotel ramp. 2. The hotel only has entrances from their parking ramp on every other floor. If you park on one of the odd floors, you walk against traffic coming up the ramp to get to the door to enter the hotel. It is not safe. 3. At my last stay, I was given a room that someone was already in. The hotel had a power outage and they had everything messed up. Other members of the group we were with had similar issues. At one point, a hotel staffer was walking around the floor letting people into rooms without double checking their id's because they had key card issues. After all this, I was billed for my room after cancelling it. I am stilly trying to get that fixed. 4. The elevators at this hotel are extremely slow. If the hotel is busy and you do stay here, try to get one of the lower floors. On a previous stay the elevators broke down and you had to walk the stairs. One or two floors is not a problem but when it is 11 or 12, that is not enjoyable.

Very posh!
By Sara B, 12/29/07
First of all, I recommend you try to book this hotel through Priceline.com. Rooms START at $250, and my brother got us rooms for through Priceline for $65.00! Our rooms (12th floor) overlooked the river, and the view was breathtaking. Rooms were very well decorated with Sleep Number beds, relaxation kits, and the other usual complimentary items (coffee in rooms, free USA today brought to your door, toiletry items, etc.). Rooms/floors were quiet - the rooms sit back a bit from the hallway so you didn't hear hallway traffic. Also, it was nice that the bathrooms were tucked away from the sleeping area. Also, all of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful.

Are you kidding me?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/07
Ok so I was at the hotel for a wedding on Labor Day weekend we stayed on Sunday to Monday. We got done from the reception and the lounge bar was closed. So we went to the room to have a few drinks with friends. Granted we probably were not quiet at all, but the manager came with a cop and escorted us downstairs to the lounge area were we drank our own beer that we had brought. There was at least 4 wedding parties that were in the lounge drinking. I am not sure as to why they would not have the lounge area open and serving, but it was a mess. So we went to bed and such and was rudely awakened at 8:30 in the morning by the cleaning staff. Knocking at our door asking if we need stuff. We did not answer as we were trying to sleep off our night. So the cleasning staff came in. She didn't get the door open the first time. (So that means it slammed shut and then she opened it again.) Yeah not pleased by housekeeping waking us up at 8:30 in the morning when checkout isn't until noon. When I payed; I payed in cash, but she still ran my credit card. There should be no reason to run a credit card if I am not paying via a credit card. I was quite diappointed with the staff, housekeeping and the overall cost of the room. It was 150.00 with a wedding discount, that does not include a continental breakfast(it was 10.00 extra for a muffin) and parking was not included either. That was an additional 12.50 - I was originally charged 15.00, but told the guy I was at the hotel and got the reduced rate. The room had a great view, but not worth the stress and cost of this place. Stay somewhere else. Terrible service, cost, and ambiance.

Not the greatest
By MsChatterbox24, 5/30/07
After I came back to my room during one of the days at the hotel, housekeeping was leaving the room and she said she was done. However, the beds in the room were not made. I had to call the front desk to make sure my room was cleaned the next day. The front desk staff was not friendly at all, one of the girls had the worst attitude I've ever seen for hotel staff. To top it off, they charged my credit card about four times the original bill and when I called back to rectify the situation, they left me on hold for twenty minutes. I don't recommend this hotel at all. Stay in Minneappolis, it's much nicer.

nice hotel for the week-end
By Horatio, 10/9/06
Nice, clean hotel and efficent staff. Beautiful view of the river from the 9th floor. We had no complaints and would go again if we have to go St. Paul.

Suppose it's not bad...
By Sean, 9/27/06
Big convention hotel... have 3 huge ballrooms on lobby level, plus another couple in lower level. Mezzanine, where pool is has another ginormous double ballroom for lunch facilities, plus conference rooms next level up. For corporate events, this is one the top spots in St. Paul. Right on the bluff of the Mississippi, and within a couple of blocks of all the main restaurants there. Roomwise, it's typical Crowne style... internet access is terrible. Though there's a zillion wireless access points in St. Paul, speed is spotty on teh upper floors of teh Crowne (particularly I guess the smoking floor, lucky 13) and teh windows don't open, which I find particularly annoying. Pretty good gym though, and teh pool and hot tub are well maintained.
