Over rated for the room we received.
By jill, 3/21/10
This was our first experience with Hotwire. We could have stayed at a hotel closer to our desired location cheaper with Hotwire & also on other sites. We decided paid a little extra money to stay in a "real nice" 3 1/2 star hotel. We called Sheraton ahead of time to see if we could get a great view -no pool side, Queen beds and pet free room. She would give us a room with a great view, but dogs were welcomed into any room, & it would cost us $50.00 more to get a room with a king w/ pull out couch. Hotwire rates are the standard rooms with 2 double beds or just one king bed (not the rooms Sheraton advertises on their website) Then I called Hotwire to inform them although this was a nice hotel they give Hotwire customers small rooms not seen on this hotel's website. The gal from Hotwire informed me the wording is "These classic, polished hotels feature an excellent service level with quality amenities found at better hotels. They USUALLY offer: Large, quality rooms for 3 1/2 star hotels "not all" customers will receive a large, quality hotel room." The lobby of the hotel looked great. The staff (the little we seen of them) was friendly. We entered our room, it was one of the smaller & by far the uglist room I have seen. The chairs were mixed matched to say the least. The top half of 2 chairs were reupholstered very differently from each other and from anything else in the room, bedspread was old and lumpy. Rooms was not real clean, but not bad enough to complain. Also the tissue paper holder built in the wall was not used - and had bottle caps and other garbage in it. The room had 3 bath towels, 2 wash cloths, and 2 hand towels for 4 people but 8 pillows. Did not have many tv channels -they have pay-per-view (which was about $14.00 per movie). The toilet flushing was loud. Breakfast is too expensive. Our room had a great view (although we would had prefered an East view not the West view- but we were told those rooms were smaller yet). It had comfortable beds & 47" TV. It was quiet, but not too many people were there - although from outside we could see almost all the lights were on. They have a nice big hottub & an ok pool. But I will go back to picking my hotel with HBO, continental breakfast and a nice, large, quality room (when we spend more than one night we get a microwave and refrig): queen or king beds and pet free. I will not be getting rooms from Hotwire again, who uses the word "usually". I like to know what I am getting. I prefer staying in one of the best rooms at a OK hotel then the worst room at a high rate hotel.

Was an okay stay
By Arvin, 7/2/09
The lobby was beautiful.I did like it that was close to fast food restaurents and had a shuttle service for the Mall.Dislikes were the pool and hot tub.To me they were a joke. The hot tub didn't have much of a circulation and the pool it self had no steps.Just a ladder. Hard to believe that you had to pay $3.95 for water in your room. Other places I have stayed give it to you.

Old, Dirty and Unhappy Staff
By Rolling Stone, 5/6/09
If I hadn't received a very cheap rate I wouldn't have stayed after checking in. The hotel is extremely old and dated - it looks like it hasn't been renovated in a very long time. It's missing flat screen TV's and The Link with free internet like other Sheraton's have. It was dirty, with the same debris in the hallway and patios around the pool for 2 days. And none of the staff we encountered seemed like they wanted to be there. There are much better choices for the money in the area. Avoid this one.

Look forward to it each year!
By LindaK, 1/23/09
This was our 4th annual stay for a conference. We always look forward to and enjoy a very comfortable stay. Easy to get to. No problems traveling with our small dog. We have found the staff quite pleasant and helpful. If your coming for a huge conference, there is overflow parking across the street. Several restaurants in easy walking distance. Just a few minutes from Mall of America & Airport. Lots of meeting rooms of various sizes.

Won't Go Back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/08
We stayed at a neighbouring hotel and had to book a room here for our last night in Minnestoa. The staff that we encountered were cold and unfriendly and really made the stay gloomy and uncomfortable overall. We will NOT ever support this hotel again. The decor was dated but tolerable but we really don't know why every person we had to deal with was so grumpy and miserable. It was all made worse by the fact that the hotel we were in previously was so pleasant and accomodating (and cheaper!!), with the same, if not more, amenities. I would not recommend this hotel, there are better in the area.

Beds are comfortable!!!
By Bonnie, 5/11/08
We were in town for a conference, we stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. On the positive, the beds are very comfortable but small for being queen size. Loved the idea of the several pillows on the bed, making it even more comfortable. The room was nice size for having 4 people staying in it. On the negative, there was no type of air circulation in the room (we had a smoking room), would have been nice to have at least a small window to open up to let some fresh air in from time to time (we were on the 12th floor). The bathroom did not have a fan, so after each shower, we had to wait several minutes before the next person showered, otherwise it was just way to hot and steamy. It was crazy that you had to pay $3.95 for a bottle of water and get charged $.75 for the daily paper, which we didn't even know we were getting. The bar was nice and comfortable place to sit and relax, but the drink prices were outrageous. $5 for a bottle of beer, that is just wrong. One gal had ordered a strawberry margarita, she didn't get it because they were out of strawberries, excuse me?!? Have you ever heard of running to the grocery store? You do want to keep your customers happy? Don't you?! The funny thing is that during our lunch at the conference, were wer served fresh strawberries. Hmmmm, what is wrong with that picture???? Food prices were too high also. So we ate elsewhere and purchased our pop and water from the local convienence store. Lastly, when we were leaving our room, this gentleman came up with a cart to take our luggage down for us, he was a very friendly guy. When we met up with him in the lobby, he was quickly told to go do something else, then this other guy took our cart and brought it to our car. We didn't even get a chance to tip the first guy, who had done all of the work, because he was shooed away so quickly. Overall, I was disappointed, I felt that if you stay in a place that has a "big" name, they should be more accommedating to its clients, like give bottled water and papers free! And maybe bring the drink and food prices down?

Dated Sheraton
By Duke, 8/24/07
I would expect more from the name Sheraton. The only decent about this Bloomington Sheraton is the king-size bed. Everything else is just normal or dated. I would not come back to this location. The experience I drew from this hotel is to choose at a newly built hotel over a dated brand-name hotel in the future.

Clean room bad service
By ErinC, 8/23/07
I stayed there just recently for the minneapolis gift mart show in aug 07. The rooms were clean but small. There was no fridge or microwave, you have to pay for internet, they charge you for the paper they leave at your door and the bottled water is $4 bucks a bottle in your room - i could deal with all that. The meeting areas were nice though. Above all the service was terrible - waited forever for service at the front desk. My friend wanted to send out a package that was time sensitive and was told by 3 different people - 3 different stories about how she could go about mailing this package. None gave a definate answer as how to mail it or when the ups truck came to pick packages up at the hotel. The front desk person was to busy taking a personal phone call to help us out and was rather rude when finally he did. Its an ok hotel but I think we could have got better service at a days inn.
