Not the Best
By dani, 07/28/09
We came in late looking for a room. We booked a room, two king size beds, so we thought. When we got to our room, it was so tiny is was ridiculous, we had two full beds instead of king size, and we couldn't even get a cot because they "weren't available". Needless to say, one of the members of our vacation had to sleep on the floor. And the walls must be paper thin because we were laughing and got threatened to be kicked out. We paid over a hundred dollars for our room, no continental breakfast, and the beds were wrong. I will definently not stay in this hotel again while visiting the twin cities.

Nice Hotel close to Excel Center
By Mikie27, 02/01/08
We were at the hotel for 8 nights in January at US Figure Skating Championships. Joined Holiday Inn Priority Club (free) prior to reservations to get Priority Club room. Nice, good sized, room on 5th floor facing the River. Bathroom a little small, but everything very clean. Had trouble with heating unit, so hotel replaced it (twice). Mtce guys told us hotel had recently refurbished rooms with new beds, linens, carpet, etc. Very comfortable beds with 4 good pillows each. Hotel across intersection from Excel Center, which was great because outside temp -17F with windchill of -35F. Hotel staff very good. Gave us better driving directions to hotel than website. Asked for some extra towels first day and got more every day after that w/o asking. Adjacent parking ramp not cheap, but convenient. Number of restaurants and pub style bars within couple of blocks. Didn't try Liffy's, but others said it's very good. Have to agree with other posters that doors slam, people talking in hall, and traffic noise is noticeable, but didn't seem worse than other downtown hotels like this. We also carry a small 10 inch box fan and use it at night to muffle outside noises.

Perfect location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/07
The location is the best seller for this very nice hotel. Right across from the Exel Center. Couple of eating locations with a block. Bus stop to head to the Mall of America right outside the front door and they'll tell you exactly which bus you need to take. Easy and cheap way to shop!! The room was very nice but the heating/cooling system was typical hotel - tempermental and impossible to keep regulated. The restaurant needs a fuller menu to be wonderful. But the decor is gorgeous. The hotel was very full the 3 days I was there but it was very quiet at nights and early morning. Desk staff was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable.

Not a family friendly hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/07
The hotel is in a GREAT location. It is across the street from the arena, close to all highways, and within walking distance to Boyd Park where families gather to watch the Fourth of July fireworks. Across the river (driving distance) is the Taste of Minnesota, which is very nice as well. The hotel does have a place to eat; however, it is expensive and the meals are not what a child would eat. It is an Irish Pub, thus it has fancier food. The hotel is not close to any children activities. There is a bar across the street and another bar down the road. This would be an ideal place for a single or dating couple who want to have fun out on the town, but not for a family. The pool is VERY small, so to entertain ourselves, we road the elevator up and down. The elevator is glass and allows you to overlook the city.

Will definitely stay again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/06
As stated before, the location was fantastic. We stayed 2 nights, and didn't know that the Irish Fest was going on, so the hotel was busy. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly, and parking was a breeze. The free wireless was a definite plus! Several nice eateries within walking distance, in a beautiful part of the city. Our room was very clean and comfy, except that the AC unit sounded like a bathtub running all night, and we were down by the stairwell to the Liffy patio, so it was noisy all night with patrons coming and going. For some reason, they steam cleaned the carpet in the room directly above us at 7 am, so we were a little grumpy due to the early wake, since it was a vacation day for us. But the great room service breakfast service made up for it. Overall, it was a very nice stay. The proximity to the Excel Center will be terrific when we come back for hockey.
