Izatys Resort, Onamia

We stayed at Izatys this past weekend July 2009.The hotel has no maid service and is dirty and run down. They have no ammentities because they are owned by the bank and no staff. You have to check in at the club house which is a walk down the hill from the hotel. The pictures on the web are very deceiving. Until this resort is purchased by a new buyers and substantial changes are made, skip this place and spend your money at a place that is not in foreclosure.

Izatys was a great place to fish, play golf and eat but filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed its doors in October. Current owners are said to be auctioning the property in March or early April. I have not doubt it can return to greatness but needs major investment in golf courses, buildings and lodge. Meanwhile, some 130 townhomer owners are left wondering how a place so cool now has virtually no amenities.

We were at Izaty's for a family wedding. The party facilities were just fine and the service was good. The rest of our experience was not so enjoyable. 1. We have never seen a resort with no patio furniture or deck furniture except at the bar or the fenced pool. We stayed at the lodge and there is not even a bench outside. 2. The facility is not handicapped friendly. The paths need maintenance. The paths near the lodge and club house are used for golf carts and walking. 3. Nowhere to enjoy the great 'up-north' feel outside. The patio and deck that was available to the wedding party had no furniture. 4. Families beware. Porn is available by just flipping channels on the TV. Nothing is in place to prevent accidentally coming across the porn channel.
