Great Stay at the Weathervane Terrace
By ,
We stayed in a Lake Michigan Suite. The room was very clean and had alot of space. Kitchen had everything you need to make a meal. Our room had a real fireplace that we really enjoyed. We traveled all around northern Michigan and this was the only hotel room that we stayed in that had triple sheeting. The staff was very friendly and helped with directions and where to eat dinner. We loved the waffles. We had a view of the lake. Didn't get to use the balcony. It was alittle cold out.

Mixed Feelings
By ,
The hotel was completely booked with three wedding parties and the parking lot was too small to accommodate guests forcing us to walk with our baggage past all the drunken party-ers. Their loud parties were out on the balconies, hallways and parking lot - fun for them, not for people who wanted a restful night sleep. Didn't I read REST someplace in the description? The noise from heavy walking above, frequent door openings and the partying all around was unpleasant. I would have changed the lay out of the room so that the sleeping area wasn't near the public walkway/parking lot and they should add more sound proofing to the floors and walls. The pool opens at 10am, but check out is at 11. DUH! what were you thinking?! Can't you get someone to clean it after it closes so that it can open at breakfast time? it isn't rocket science. Speaking of breakfast… at 10am we were offered three bagels, dry cereal and a wait to make our own waffles. That was it. They said they were too overwhelmed with other guests and were trying to restock. I said, too late, but I will let the internet know how I felt, which was unvalued and unimportant. I guess wedding parties are more important than regular guests. We had a queen suite with balcony (couldn't use the balcony for the HUGE infestation of gargantuan mosquitos/flies) and it had a fireplace and well stocked kitchenette - nice for others, unused by us. Since they were completely booked that was the only room offered us; It was more than we needed, therefore higher priced than we needed. But it was CLEAN. The bathroom was clean.

Needs Complete Renovation
By ,
Linens old and worn. Musty smell in the room. Terribly outdated bathroom. Breakfast must have been from a Motel 6. Couldn't even take a shower - we drove to another locations and hotel immediately upon arising that morning.

Awful
By ,
The room above ours overflowed their bathtub, which resulted in our room flooding. Instead of finding us a new room, the hotel staff instead insisted that the cleaning ladies come wipe down the counter tops and tell us to "be careful with the lights." After a little bit longer of talking with the front desk staff, they determined a room could be ready in an hour... however at this point there was no time to switch rooms as we had to be ready for a 3:00 wedding. The room remained musty, and the celing remianed wet for the following evening. The manager is not on the property during the weekends, and once he called he was unwilling to listen to any of our compaints, and believed the $60 "comp" was enough of a discount on their $259/night rate. The sheets on the bed were stained, and the towels were very old. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The only redeaming quality the hotel had was it's proximity to the shops.

Nice deal - not quite as advertised
By ,
We enjoyed our stay at the Weathervane. We took the three night for two deal and had a very nice time overall. The continental breakfast was more than adequate. The room and furnishings were nice. Service was ok, but not great. The three night for two deal was supposed to include two free movies. Apparently because we chose the Jacuzzi room we were ineligible to receive the movies. This should have been spelled out beforehand. It's a small thing but a disappointment nonetheless.

Winter get away!
We LOVE the WeatherVane! This will be our third year booking for a mid winter get away. We ski the Highlands and dine like roalty at the Grey Gable and the WeatherVane. Rooms are great- kid friendly, Breakfast is filling... as long as they offer the cheap winter rate- we will come back!

Nice place to stay
By ,
I liked the location right next to the drawbridge. The beach and downtown were only a short distance away. Good breakfast set-up. The tower stairs were a little hard to climb for young kids.

That Special Moment
By ,
I went to the WeatherVane Hotel just after Thanksgiving last year. They had some very nice rates for that time of year and exellent rooms. I chose a room with a view of lake Charlevoix and of Lake Michigan and it had a fire place in the room. It was very romantic we were on the third floor and there was a hot tub that overlooked Lake Charlevoix. I asked my girlfriend to marry me that night and I bet you can guess the answer she gave me!

A Perfect Weekend
By ,
We had a wonderful weekend at the Weathervane Terrace Inn and Suites. It was a beautiful spring day. The temps in the 60s and we got a hot tub room with a view of Lake Michigan for only $79.00 per night. The room was very nice and clean. The staff was incredible. We will be back again and again.
