Give this place a chance
By Conference visitor, 2/10/11
After having a conference rescheduled for this hotel, I read some reviews and was quite anxious about staying here. What a pleasant surprise. First of all, the staff was very accomodating and hospitable. Every person was polite and helpful. Secondly, the food in the restaurant was great and staff again was great. Granted the rooms might need a bit of refurbishing, but they were clean, huge, and had all the aspects that one might need. All of the people we were with at the conference remarked about how this was certainly not the place we had read about in previous review, we all were happy with every part of our visit.

Gross
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/20/11
The rooms were dirty and they smelled. The only good thing I can say is that there was a snow storm the night we stayed and some of the employees helped us get our car out.

Waste of money

Where do I begin? The place is falling apart, over priced, stained carpets, mold everywhere, terrible service, management is a joke.

Terrible
By Anne, 1/1/10
The CoCo Key water park was a lot of fun for the kids. The concession stand for A&W and Pizza Hut had a combined single cashier/register during their so called "peak week" for Christmas school vacation. The lone cashier/register resulted in a long line with a long wait on both our days at the park. Not so fun for the parents. Trade Winds restaurant, during dinner, was a 40-50 minute wait to get in, then an addidtional 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was bad, also. Mac and Cheese was clearly a microwave packet. Management blamed the back up due to a large party but when we entered the restaurant the place was only at approximately 30% capacity and hostesses filled in as waitresses. The inclusive breakfast was more efficient due to a buffet line. Not well managed during "peak week" but the cost for a hotel room was at "peak week" prices. Hotel room was very dusty and just o.k. Common areas were not heated during the night and the poor staff wore jackets indoors. People who rate the hotel portion any higher than two stars obviously never traveled before. I would recommend a day trip for the kids but not an overnight debacle.

Fine place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/6/09
I got the room through Hotwire, and was a bit worried after seeing some horrible comments here. I don't know where these other people stayed, or whether perhaps they were expecting the palace at Versailles. The room was clean, well-maintained and comfortably (and tastefully) furnished. True, it was a long walk to the room. This comes with the territory when you go through Hotwire, and are paying less than $50 for a room that typically costs more than $100. But the hallway was carpeted and well-lighted. We didn't hear (or see) any of the children using the water park. (One warning: The vending machines want $2.50 for a bottle of water. Yikes.)

Second Chance as disappointing as the first
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/09
We stayed at the Sheraton Ferncroft last weekend as part of a wedding. It you don't mind moldy shower curtains, no conditioner, moldy ceiling, and stained carpets you will have a blast.

Don't plan an event here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/08
The hotel business is suposed to be service based, well forget that, almost everyone at this facility treats you as though they are doing you a favor. We booked a block of rooms way in advance for a wedding in the area, over 75 rooms booked and planned a large post wedding brunch(not cheap)and met with nothing short of incompetance and aggravation along the way. Several times, not once, we were told the block of rooms were filled, causing our guests to pay a higher room rate while there were plenty of rooms left in the block.Emails went unanswered for days and sometimes not answered at all, ususally requiring a follow up phone call. Our event planner changed three different times and unfortunately no improve there.I also left an email and a phone call with the general manager during this mishap and no surprise there, she never responded to me either. Do yourseld a favor, find someplace else, while this place looks good they have no idea re: the hotel business.

Not very happy
By Susan, 8/19/08
I just spent 4 days at this hotel with my children and my granddaughter. I found the hotel to be quite disappointing. It was dingy smelling, dirty, the supplies were not replinished daily (towels, coffee, toiletries), food trays left in the hall all day, noisy. All in all, a very over-price and disappointing visit. Would not return.

Worth the trip
By Kristen, 7/7/08
I made the reservations and was excited to go then I started to read the reviews and got nervous. The hotel was done being renovated except for the pool/gym area which wasnt that big of a deal. The rooms were really nice the bathroom was huge. Hubby loved the flat screen TV that was in the room. The water park was great and yes its probably "smaller" than other parks but hey its indoors. It wasnt as busy as I thought it was going to be since we went on 4th of July weekend. We checked in on the 3rd about 8pm. The pack and play was in the room already. I thought maybe there would be a fridge in the room automatically but there wasnt, i called down and got one in 15 minutes with out any problems. Needed it for daughters antibotic and formula. And we checked out on Sat the 5th. I would definetly stay here again and dont let all the reviews worry you.

It was suppose to be my wedding night.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/08
It never occurred to me before to write a review of my awful experience at the Ferncroft in Danvers, MA. On June 2nd 2007, I was married and it was a fairytale wedding! The only down part was that we couldn't afford a honeymoon. My mother and aunt felt terrible so they booked us a suite at the Ferncroft and gave it to us for my bridal shower gift. This was in April. They booked it online for us and that was all we had to do. The suite was ours and it sounded fabulous! We couldn't wait. At a little past 11PM, we arrived at the hotel. There had be a terrible storm that night and a lot of the roads had be shut down so we were happy to get there! Me in my gown and he in his nice suit approached the counter. I gave her our names and she told us that there were no more available suites. All the couples had checked in already. My jaw hit the ground and tears started to fill my eyes. I asked her "What do you mean? We've had this booked for 2 months." She replied "A phone call would have been nice so we knew you were arriving." Again my jaw hit the ground. I turned to my new husband of 6 hours and said let's just go home. I didn't want to cry in the lobby. He asked the woman what else could be done. She told us that there was "a room available with two beds". Yes, that's right! Two beds for the newlyweds! I can't remember what I said but i remember her response clear as day! "We can't go kicking out any other bride and groom. That wouldn't be fair." We took the key and went upstairs. I cried all the way through the lobby, up the elevator and in our room. The next morning I went to get a refund because I figured that there would be a price difference between the suite and a 2 bed room. I was informed "Nope", and that was it. That was the end of my stay. My mother called and spoke with a manager and they said that the woman we spoke to would never be rude and is the best one they have. They also said thee was no record of us not being in a suite. So to all the newlyweds or people just looking to book a room a the Ferncroft in Danvers, MA, make sure you call and confirm your reservation and stand up for yourself. We were never rude or disrespectful to anyone. That one staff member hardly looked us in the eyes and she spoke down to us. We never received an apology or a phone call. On top of it all, the room wasn't that decent; the ceiling was falling apart in the bathroom.
