No air conditioning?!
By chris, 4/8/10
I stayed for one night, and it was a hot and humid night. This hotel has no air conditioning and no fans in the rooms. The front desk had nothing to offer (small fans, or anything). So I went back upstairs and opened the window only to listen to traffic on the Mass Pike all night. I tossed and turned and got no sleep. Also, the walls are so thin, I could hear the person in the next room sneeze every 5 minutes. I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER stay here again.

Taken Advantage Of
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/08
I feel like I was taken advantage of. I have worked for many hotels in FL, and for $170 you can stay at a beautiful hotel.......actually $99 per night will get you a beautiful airport hotel. The pictures on the web for this hotel are so deceiving. It looks like this posh little boutique hotel, and I have stayed in better on the streets of Athens. Small dark dull painted hallways that looks like an old boarding house. Give those walls some kind of treatment and paint the doors a nice bright color! Carpets in rooms gross! Put some cheap laminate down folks! and paint the rooms! No nozzle on shower head........caution if you are balding, the water pressure will take the rest of your hair off! Even seeing the outside of the hotel I thought, this is going to be sweet...........very disappointed! I'll spend an extra $50 for a nice room next time. It is a shame though, you could make these rooms really unique.

Good place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/08
I stayed there 3 nights at the end of April 2008. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff! They accepted to keep my packsac behind the front desk the day of my departure, because I had a late flight. Small room, but clean, that's the most important thing! I will certainly stay there again if I come back to Boston!

I doubt I'll go back if I can help it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/07
Rooms are very small. My room had a strong odor of mildew, mold, and cigarette smoke despite the fact that I was on a non-smoking floor. The rooms are not equipped with an internet connection (must have wifi capability to access). My room had no spare power outlets that actually worked. Though the rooms appeared clean, one of my bedspreads had cigarette burns in it, which kind of grossed me out. The AC and TV were delapidated and functioned poorly. At a price of $180/night ($159 + taxes) for absolutely no amenities, I felt a bit raped. I am by no means picky when it comes to hotel rooms (just need a place to sleep and surf the net), but if I am ever back up in Boston, I think it'll be worth it to pay a little more for a room at a better hotel.

Small, but clean
By Richard C, 5/27/06
The Chandler Inn features VERY small rooms; two people are constantly trying to get out of each other's way. There is no vanity in the bathroom, so no place to keep toiletries. The inn is also quite old. The wooden doors have to be locked when you leave (with an old-style key), and you leave your key at the desk when you go out. The location is convenient, but noisy. It's a comfortable walk to most of the Back Bay and South End areas and the T. The bar in the hotel (Boston's best gay bar, actually) generates a lot of noise when it closes at 2 a.m. Also, there is absolutely NO parking available, except for a handful of spots on the street, which are rarely available. If you have a car, be prepared to pay exorbitant rates to park in one of the local garages. We did find the inn to be immaculately clean, and the staff to be, for the most part, helpful and courteous. I thought $159 was much too high a rate for a hotel with no amenities, but it does seem to be comparable to the obscenely high rates you'll pay for a hotel in the city of Boston.

going back soon!
The Chandler Inn is a quaint, old hotel with a very friendly, helpful staff! The entire staff helped us everyday with directions to every location we were going to, as well as giving us recommendations. The staff truly goes above and beyond when it comes to service! The hotel is located within a 5 minute walking distance to the subway system and has cafes just around the corner. When we go back to Boston, we will stay at the Chandler Inn, again!

a really nice stay in boston, thanks to the chandler hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/05
this hotel was lovely. it is about a 10 min walk to the Back Bay subway station which was a fair distance with our suitcases but it is very easy to find. we checked in and the lady behind to desk was great, very helpful. we went up to our room and it was a pleasent suprise (we'd just come from a disaster of a hotel in new york and this was a pleasent suprise!)nice furniture and a very comfy bed. the location is about 15 mins from the prudential centre and right next door to chinatown and the theater district. over all we really enjoyed our stay in boston and this hotel was fantastic.

Nice weekend getaway
By DennisD, 6/7/05
The Chandler Inn has small but functional, well kept rooms. I spent a few long weekends here and find it just right for that sort of getaway. The staff is very attentive and polite. Nearby theaters and restaraunts. Would highly recommend.
