The Beachside At Nantucket, Nantucket

I stay at the Beachside when I vacation. Their pool is good. Their breakfast can get crowded and a bit messy with all the folks there, but it is good too. The rooms are a bit old but fine for me. This place can be booked up very easily, unfortunately you do need to reserve in advance. They have coin laundry there which is a plus. If you cancel, I think you can reschedule for free. If you bail alltogether, I think they take half of your deposit. It is not open all year round. Good location. It is quite expensive to stay there. It is generally very very quiet on their grounds after 9-10 pm. I think the service is good too. I did not really notice any changes when the new mgt came on board. The grounds are pretty good too! For me, its a 5 out of 5 stars. For Nantucket in general, its probably 2.5-3.5 out of 5 stars. Lots of nice people stay there too. My old review is on here under screen name Joe. I recommend it really just for single travelers and families.

Great place, quiet location, clean rooms, friendly staff and super breakfast. I have stayed at others but this is the very best bang for your buck as well as comfortable and nice!

The beachside was unaccomodating before I even arrived. I made a reservation for 3 nights and needed to change it to 1 night because of an emergency at home. I called back in under 24 hours and they would not change my reservation at all. They said I would lose my whole amount. I made the reservation through priceline and they said the hotel must refund my money; my credit card company said the same thing. The hotel insists they will charge me the full amount. Very poor and unaccomodating business. I can not imagine what would happen if I stayed there.

My trip was cancelled becuse no flights were going into Nantucket. The manager (Alex) charged me the full amount anyway and would not let me re-book. Pick a better hotel!

I am the friend of the person who sent the review from Reading, Ma. The management and staff at this hotel is working very hard to rectify all of the problems from the previous year. My husband and I had stayed at The Beachside about 10 years ago and found it quite comfortable and a great value. The Beachside staff made every effort to make my friend and me welcome during our current stay. The staff is helpful and courteous. The workmen at the hotel were courteous as well. Check out their package deals - they can't be beat. Everyone is working hard to regain the good reputation that they had in past years.

I had read unsatisfactory reviews for 2006. Luckily, the Beachside is under new management, and everything that I read that was unsatisfactory has been rectified. The rooms are cheerful, newly painted, newly rugged, clean and spotless. The pool is new and fantastic. It's a short walk to Jetties Beach, and a short distance to downtown establishments. The lobby is so inviting and colorful, with cheerful helpful staff at the front desk. Breakfast was great. The Beachside on Nantucket rates in the superior category as far as myself and my friend are concerned. Great value, great location, great place with a great staff! One thing that impressed us greatly were the beautiful flowers on the grounds and in the flower boxes. Also, fresh flowers in the lobby were lovely. We will return, no doubt about it.

Wish I found this site first...moldy curtains, dank smell, stained carpet, ants on the floor, and this was in the upgraded room! First offered us a room in back in the pet section that smelled like a rotting animal. However, the staff was really wonderful.

Hotel is dirty. Room was very dirty-asked for a different room and saw 3 others which weren't much better. Sheets and towels were of terrible quality. Place is no better than a flea bag hotel. Rates are too high for such a bad looking hotel. Dirt on staircases, windows so dirty you can't see out. Help was nice but even they acknowledge that the place needs a renewal. Breakfast was poor quality. Would not recommend it to anyone!!

I stayed at this hotel based on the recommendation of family who have stayed there several times before. They always had good things to say about this hotel so I was looking forward to a great experience. Well, I got the exact opposite! The rooms were absolutely disgusting! The bathroom was filthy with hair stuck to the walls, the tub looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months and there was a giant hole in the wall of the bathroom. The main area rug looked like people had urinated and defecated on it and the bedding was dirty as well. If it wasn't bad enough that the room was a pig sty, the pool was closed for 2 of our 3 day stay. I believe that ownership has changed since my family has stayed there and it shows. I don't think any of the money that they get from the rooms is put back into the place at all. This is really too bad because the hotel is located in a decent location (close to shopping and the beach)but considering how much they charge per night, I expect a modicum of cleaniness. What they give you there is absolutely unacceptable! I would never stay there again and neither would anyone I know.

I've stayed in Nantucket many times before and this was the perfect place for me and my family. The staff was extremly helpful in every way, from our early check in to assitsing with directions,and oh yes, our late check out. The room was clean with a refrigerator for any of our needs and a wonderful private patio which we truly enjoyed. The pool was convienent and clean and great for the kids when we were getting ready for our adventure to town, the adults enjoyed the pool on many occasions as well. The location was absolutly perfect ... A quick trip to town in one direction and Jetties beach in the other. We had lunch at the Galley Beach near Jetties and I must say it was the best I ever had. This lovely motel made our vacation week-end extremly enjoyable and I recommend it highly. Again, I must comment about the staff, every one I encoutered was helpful, competent and exceptionally pleasant which always helps to make a vacation away more enjoyable. Can't wait to go back!!!!
