Great location but not worth the money.
By burghchick66, 9/29/12
I was very excited to be staying in a room with a view of the Inner Harbor for a recent Yankees/Orioles game. Not so excited after I got to the room & realized what I got was a room with a view nowhere near the harbor. I was told that because I wanted to check in early that is what they had.....and I still got to pay almost $500 for it! The room was very nice, spacious & clean but you think for that kind of money you could at least get a mini bar & fridge. The upside to the experience was the staff. They were all very friendly & extremely helpful in recommending restaurants & sites near the hotel. The entire hotel was very clean & well kept. And the best part was the location....directly across from the Inner Harbor & not far from Camden Yards. I would book here again but would make sure I book a room without a Harbor view & save my money.

Great Location-Horrible Service
By Heather, 5/29/11
We picked this hotel due to the convenient location as well as a good nightly rate via Priceline.com. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told by the front desk that were was no record of our reservation. However, our credit card had already been charged for the full amount by the hotel 12 days before our arrival. After 30 mins, this was supposedly straightened out and we were given a room. The next morning, the front desk asked for our credit card information again for what they stated was just to "update" their information. A few minutes later an additional $500+ charge showed up on our credit card. We spent several hours the rest of the morning talking to the front desk and the credit card company about this unauthorized charge. By the end of our stay the front desk was unable to give us a written confirmation that the charge would be removed. However they verbally stated it would be and gave us a statement with a zero balance. Several days later the charge did disappear from the credit card bill. A week after our checkout date, this hotel charged an additional $160 to our credit card. Upon calling to the hotel again, the staff stated they were unable to assist as the accounting department is closed. A quick weekend getaway has now turned into a headache. Despite the great location and comfortable rooms, we would not return to this hotel or recommend it to any of our friends....unless they don't mind being robbed.

Great
By JohnL, 6/21/10
My family took a trip to the Inner Harbor and stayed here, we got the Aquarium package. The hotel location is fantastic, right across the street from the Inner Harbor. Parking pass was included in the package, very convenient, you park directly underneath the hotel. The buffet breakfast that came with the package was fantastic and over the top. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is part of a larger complex that includes a high end shopping mall, which was nice to walk around. The room was clean and very nice, pool is a little small but it was nice for the kids. Ten minute walk to the aquarium. Overall very positive and would do it again.

It was my worst experience
By Abdallah D, 5/7/09
This was a nightmare, first we requested a harbor view and we were assured not once, but twice that we will get a harbor view….but when we got to the Hotel they said; “Yes you requested it but we didn’t guarantee it for you”…and they gave me a room facing construction. Then the pool was also unavailable because of renovations and they told us that they can send us to another hotel to swim….which was extremely inconvenient.. and we were not notified by this renovation before doing the reservation. They had the coffee machine locked in a closet and we found it the 2’nd day of our stay…and although we repeatedly requested tea bags with the coffee tray….that didn’t happen except in the first day. Over all the experience was bad, bad, bad….. and the management of the hotel were not helpful. I will never stay there or recommend it to any of my friends

Great Location
By TRIP, 7/21/08
We had picked Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, based on location to the harbor and the ballpark, we could walk to both with a stroller. Lots of smiling faces and children during our visit. The shopping inside was a nice touch, We were able to self park and go in and out as many times as we wanted with the car. This was a top nothch hotel. From the hotel you can reach the water taxi, at $9.00 to ride all day it is a must. We will return soon.

Does the good outway the bad?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/07
We recently visited the Inner Harbor and stayed at this hotel. We opted for the Aquarium package which included breakfast, valet parking and tickets at the aquarium. A great deal! The buffet breakfast is fantastic! The room was clean, the beds and pillows extremely comfortable and the lotions/ soaps in the bathroom first class. Be warned though, bring your own toilet paper! Cheap 1-ply sandpaper rough toilet paper doesn't cut it with a 4 star hotel. The other complaint is the hallways. No matter what time of day, you will notice trays from guests ordering room service outside their rooms. I complained at least 7 times in 2 days that the hallway was a disgrace. Morning room service trays were left outside rooms from approx. 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. both days. The maids that clean the rooms seem to ignore these items as they are not in the individual rooms. A hotel of this caliber should not need lessons on how to clean the hallways, its' a bad reflection on how clean the room is! I did speak to a front end manager and a room service manager. They both agreed with my observations, were apologetic, and said they need to work harder on this matter. Time will tell. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Inner Harbor. The attractions are great for the family, the variety of restaurants is incredible, and the local people are extremely friendly. One last note, if you make reservations at one of the local restaurants, many of them offer free shuttles from the hotel. This was a great bonus, as area parking is sparse and no one should ever drink and drive!

A Time To Remember
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/07
We went to Baltimore for my step-daughter's birthday. The hotel staff could not have been more accommodating. In fact, we came in one night to find a table with a chocolate birthday cake, silverware, plates and a teddy bear with a lovely note from the hotel staff. The presentation itself was beautiful but the effort and thoughtfulness behind it is what will bring our family back to this hotel anytime I stay in Baltimore. This is the best hotel I've stayed in because of the personalization alone and that's comparing to Ritz Carlton's, Bellagio, Swan & Dolphin .... and many other luxury hotels. The money is worth it and I'm a true believer of getting what you pay for.
