Now A Motel6

The Quality Inn was bought out by Motel6 in June. We had a very pleasant stay at Christmas time and were happy to have found a decent hotel near my sister. We found out the hotel had changed hands and figured it would be basically the same. Boy, were we wrong. The new front desk staff was HORRIBLE. They could not get the billing correct- we were overcharged and they acted like it was our fault when we tried to have it corrected. Way too much time was spent on trying to get our bill straightened out. Also, no one could properly answer any of questions we asked. My husband spilled his soda on the bed one night so we called the front desk for some news sheets so we could change the bed. They said they'd call back. An hour later, we called them back. The desk said (pissily, I might add) that someone was bringing us sheets and hung up on my husband while he was mid-sentence. Needless to say, my husband slept on top of a towel and we got fresh sheets from housekeeping the next day. When we made the reservation, we were told they had a pool. The pool was closed (mid July) which is probably a good thing considering the water was dark green and looked like a mosquito breeding ground. On the bright side, the housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful and gave us whatever towels, tp we asked for. 2 of the ice machines were broken, leaving only 1 usable. It looks like some of the rooms had been renovated but I don't think ours had been done. the carpet was stained and was a different pattern than in some of the nicer looking rooms. Maybe they put us in an older room because we had our dog with us. The pet amenities are great- a big grassy yard with plenty of room to play and sniff around. Actually, the setting is very pretty with nice shade trees and plantings and a pretty gazebo. The rooms were pretty standard for a hotel of this price- nothing special. HBO is free but the channel selection otherwise is not so good. Wi Fi costs $3 for 24 hrs. The hotel is close to several restaurants and there is a convenience store right across the street. we ate at Hard Times Cafe across the street and had great burgers and even shot some pool for free. Also, on saturday afternoon a small farmers market set up in the discount movie theater parking lot right next door. We stayed for 9 days so we had a bit of time to explore. So, if you can deal with a front desk staff with absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever, it's an ok place to stay for a few days.
