Going Again-Living Large!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/09
We love this place! Clean, oceanfront rooms,a great beach, beautiful grounds and close to fun things for the whole family. Portland. Ogunquit's Marginal Way and the Kennbunkport Village are a short drive away. We especially treat ourselves with a visit to Pine Pont(5 min) to get fresh picked Lobster and Shrimp to enjoy back at our room. Our visit is never long enough! See you in September,2009! Regards, Wanda and Keith Hudak Endicott,NY

Family of 4, enjoyable stay
By DICK NIXON, 08/15/08
We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Anchor very much. The hotel rooms were a nice size for our family of four and it is one of the few hotels with a private balcony overlooking the pool and ocean. Most other hotels had their hallways overlooking the ocean The hotel is about 1.4 miles north of the Boardwalk which is close enough to walk but when you want to enjoy the beach, the beach in front of the Royal Anchor is MUCH less crowded. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, however, on the days it rained (very rainy this year), it was a bit too crowdwd as nobody ate at the picnic tables outside. Overall, an enjoyable stay. it could have been better if the weather had cooperated, however, the hotel can do nothing about that.

we have been going there annually for 7 years
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/07
We love the hosts, location, cleaniness of rooms and grounds, pool, free breakfast, hospitality.Planned events(bocce ball tournament) dislike leaving ,small bathrooms. Mark and Clair are the best they make you feel like family,go out of their way to make your stay as GREAT as possible. The only thing they cant control is the weather,Marks says he s working on that. This is an older facility but Mark and Clair are on top of it and you would never be embarrased for your referal of the Royal Anchor resort to your family or friends. We look forward to returning every year,8 and counting.

Really appreciated our stay!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/07
We were with friends and stayed in two rooms, which were very clean.Loved being on the beach, great breakfast(lots of choice for a continental breakfast)very well served. We appreciated that the service at the lobby counter was in French or English(we come from Quebec,Canada)We had to wait a bit for our rooms(about 1 hour)but that could be expected seeing that we went in June of 2007 and they were training the new staff for the summer.Has a nice BBQ area which could be a little bit more accesible.A great time was had by all! We will be going back!!

THE BEST
By KathleenR, 07/16/07
Our daughter got married on the beach right outside the Anchor. Lots of us stayed there (September 25, 2004)We've been staying there for years for our anniversary in September, but his family was new and they adored it. They go there now. You cannot find a cleaner, more family frienly place anywhere else in OOB. I have been going to OOB for over 50 years now and I will always go there...Thank You Royal Anchor, you have surely earned the ROYAL !!!!!!!!!!!

Super Find at OOB
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/07
We especially enjoyed the breakfast they offer. The pool looked great and the beach is wonderful. Also they are close to Portland which is a great day visit. Close to a fresh lobster and shrimp pound where we were able to buy and bring back for a yummy dinner on the balcony. Staff is very nice and accomodating. The place is CLEAN. Nice family place or for retirees looking for a new place to visit. Wanda and Keith Hudak

We can't wait to gack
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/27/07
The location is awsome, very quiet, the beach is clean and immediatly available from the Hotel. For the price we pay, the breakfast could be a little bit more elaborate. A fonctionnal ceiling fan would be appreciate!

We'll be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/08/06
We usually stay up the beach a little further. This past summer, we decided to try a new place. The Royal Anchor was the best move we made! The rooms are light, airy and very clean (the restroom could be a little bigger!). It was sooo nice to have a constant breeze in our room so that we never noticed the heat outside. The balcony area is nice and roomy also. We've told our friends what a great place this is. We'll be back in 2007! Please never change your staff or your service. It's wonderful and friendly. Thanks!
