Econo Lodge Auburn Review
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/09
Earlier this week, there was a huge snowstorm and my power went out, so I stayed here for a night. It was ok, but not great. The biggest problems I had were that the Wi-Fi didn't work, there was hair on the side of the roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, and the bedding smelled weird. Other than that, it wasn't too bad for $55.

Pros vs Cons of the Econo Lodge Auburn
By Matt m, 12/17/08
I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Auburn back in Late June-Early July 2008. The hallways were pretty dirty as they had little pieces of paper all over the floor. The beds were hard as a rock and were very hard to sleep on. The floor even seemed tempting. Also, the air conditioning in our room was always blowing a fuse which made the room hot at times. The bathroom was very small and hard to move around in it. Also, the hallways and the whole building seemed to have a odor that smelled of asian food. It was nauteous at times. Pros- It did offer very good internet that was easily accessible. The television offered a decent about of channels. Located right in the town where all the restaurants, stores, etc. are. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone (maybe my enemies..lol) because the cons (in my situation) heavily outweighed the pros. The only way I would recommend it is if you are on a budget and looking for a cheap place to spend the night. I would only spend a night or maybe two nights here. If you want to spend more money I would go with the Fireside Resort. Your decision!!

the worse possible service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/3/07
I haven't had such terrible experience in dealing with hotels in my life. I booked this hotel for three nights in advance by calling directly to the property. They told me that the rate is $75.99 per night. My trip didn't work out and I cancelled the reservation, but less than 24 hours in advance. I understood and agreed that I had to pay the one day rent. They charged me $160 per night, instead $75.99 as promised. Personal communication with front desk people and manager was absolutely useless. My English is far from perfect, but theirs ... When I filed the claim with Econolodge claim department they told me that they do not have real influence on this hotel and the final decision in on hotel's descretion. It just reminded me the visious circle. No way you can win or prove anything for those people. This situation affected me so badly that not particular this hotel, but all Econolodge hotels for me are absolutely out of any consideration for possible future staying. Better to sleep on the street. I think that Econolodge company should be more involved in such situations, because as a result of such "hospitality" other normal Econolodge hotels are affected.

Dangerous Grounds
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/05
My 8 yr old son was staying at the Econo Lodge in Auburn Maine with his father during April Vacation. Dominic, my son was playing with his older brother Chris, and Dominic thought the sliding glass door was open and ran through it, slicing his leg to the bone from above his knee to below his knee along with cuts on his face and legs. Basically, Dominic is lucky to be alive. The glass broke into shards which sliced into him. If this had been safety glass, this would not have happened. To further pour salt in the wounds, the manager wanted their father to pay for the window. I myself called the manager to inform him that he would not pay for the window whereas Econo Lodge has insurance for that purpose and further more, his insurance will also pay Dominic's medical bills. My opinion on the Econo Lodge in Aburn Maine is obviously not a good one and I consider it unsafe for everyone. According to the code passed in the 1970's all new glass should be safety glass. They have had ample time to make their hotel a safe one. It is their duty as a public place to provide the safest place possible. It is not.
