Watch Out!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/09
Didn't find out about the "extra fees" until we went down to our first "continental" breakfast. Turns out that you have to pay an additional $11 per person/per day for what you get for free at most hotels. No microwave and very small bathroom. Keep looking for something better.

Just Left and Loved It
By William, 04/08/09
We left Atlantic Oakes today (4-8-09) after staying 2 nights. I read some of the reviews after I had made my reservation and was a little concerned by some of the negative reviews. In short - we loved it. Although the place was virtually deserted the staff was friendly and the room exceptionally clean. The furniture appeared new and the view from our top floor room was terrific. We will be going back. No doubt about it.

Would NEVER go back
By Lisa G, 03/23/09
There was not one thing that we enjoyed during our stay at the Atlantic Oakes. The place is filthy. The rooms are old and in desperate need of attention. My children came home with terrible rashes all over their entire body from either the swimming pool or the hot tub. The front desk manager was rude and unwilling to correct an error with our reservation that they had made. Very overpriced. Terrible accomodations.

It was once a nice place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/07
My wife and I stayed there every summer from 1999 to 2004. Loved it the first few years, but the place slowly fell apart, and by our last stay in 2004, it had become an overpriced dump. Too bad. It is sad to see a once very nice place fall so far, so fast

Rooms a little tired...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/07
Great grounds and location. Quiet at night. But the actual room we got wasn't representative of the pictures on this hotel's web site: Very clean, but the room furnishings and bathroom were very old/tired. The outside of several of the buildings were very outdated. The indoor pool area was also rather old. Beds not particularly comfortable.

above excellent, back for the 4th time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/07
Right next to the Catamaran. The room was perfect, had an ocean view. The service was excellent, anything we asked for we got. This is the 4th time we will be going there. It is so convenient, close to everything. We will be there in 2 weeks again, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

Always Stay Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/07
This hotel is conveniently located to town, easy walk and is a gorgeous location and nicely kept campus. It's location is also a bit quieter and peaceful. The rooms in the main building are a little more expensive but are huge and worth the little extra $$. The hotel has all amenities, including very nice indoor pool and hot tub, outdoor pool, small beach, dock, tennis court and breakfast. It's a good price for all you get, we stay here every year.

good for my family
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/07
Good points - The kids loved walking out to the dock. The staff was very friendly. The shower was nice and hot and had good pressure. The breakfast was good compared to the prices in town. The view of the ocean was beautiful. The indoor pool was small but nice (we didn't visit the outdoor pool). It had free wireless internet connection. Parking was good. Nice location. The fridge worked. Bad point - You can't catch any fish off the dock (not their fault). The plumbing is really loud. Only one washer and drier in the main building (we went to the laundry in town). The walls in the main building are thin. Beds weren't very comfortable. Jo

A little dated, but good value at a great location.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/07
The location was very convenient to downtown Bar Harbor and the national park. The hotel was nice but a felt a little dated and a bit rundown.
