Couldn't ask for more!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/09
my group of 6 women just returned from our "girls vacation". We all absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were adequate, nothing too fancy, but--the location is absolutely perfect and the staff could not have been nicer. Staff all went out of their way to make our stay a really good one

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/16/09
This hotel is being renovated and our room was down a back alley with bags of cement stacked too near the door. The beds were terrible, with no support. The overhead fan was too noisy to be used. I am a local who stayed there for a special family gathering, but would have left had there not been a 2 night minimum. And, to charge guests $28 a day to park in their garage is ridiculous. This place was a big loser.

Disappointing
By Catherine, 03/13/09
I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but I was seriously disappointed with this hotel. Also, they should have disclosed that they were in the middle of some renovations. Our room was right where the sawing, hammering, painting, etc. were taking place. This made it impossible to enjoy the balcony or the courtyard. Also heard what sounded like monks chanting, and could hear everything in the next room. Thankfully, the front desk (Deana) put us in another room, which was much more comfortable--not great, but better.

What an amazing place! Can't wait to go back!!
By Erin M, 01/13/09
This hotel was more amazing than I ever expected. The rooms are beautiful, the staff are friendly, the balconies have great views, the courtyard is amazing, the breakfast is yummy. The location was perfect and almost everything is within walking distance. I really have nothing bad to say about this hotel. It was absolutely beautiful. So beautiful that out of all the places in the French Quarter that we could've gone, we decided to get engaged in the courtyard at the hotel. It was an unforgatable trip and he hotel was the icing on the cake! The staff went out of their way to help. In fact, when we had to make a stop to Walmart for some things that we forgot, one staff member on her day off escorted us there. She showed us the bus routes and was amazingly helpful. We can't wait to go back!!!!

Old world charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/08
What can you say about the Place D'armes? Personally having gone to New Orleans for a period of about 10 years straight sometimes 2 or 3 times a year I Have stayed in several different hotels. If you are not on a 5 star budget the price is right, the location is absolutely perfect for a hotel property and yes it may be old a little damp and musty at times but if you like the old world feel and the weight of history that you find in Vieux Carre this hotel is just a charming extension of that feel. I took my there for our first anniversary last year and we have booked a room there again this year for our anniversary. If you think of New Orleans as a smelly dirty old city ou will not like this hotel. If you enjoy the character and flavor of history, the thought that when your sitting at the Cafe Du' monde where civil war battles were planned and discussed you will enjoy your stay in this location at a price that beats just about everyone else in the quarter.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/28/08
I love the courtyard. Rooms are very different and can be unpredictable. Definitely ask for a courtyard room. Have stayed here 7 or 8 times and alwyas loved the location. Simple but good breakfast. Definitely worth staying here.

Great time at Places D'Arms!!
By Jenn T, 03/09/08
I really enjoyed the time that we spent at the Place D' Arms! Our group of 5 (2 rooms) arrived very early on Tuesday morning and we were not scheduled to stay in the room until Tuesday night. However, when we arrived at the hotel they took our baggage and stored it, parked our car, and offered us the free breakfast. Even though the breakfast left much to be desired it was very kind of them to offer. When we left to take a walk around the city the hostess took our phone number and said she would call as soon as the rooms were available. Even though check in was not until 4pm, we were able to check into our rooms at noon. The morning staff was beyond helpful with recommendations of restaurants, tours and additional helpful information. While the evening staff was not as courteous, they were still pleasant. The rooms were clean and had a very 'rustic' feel. We did miss the window that was not in our room. We really enjoyed our stay at Place D'Arms and will definitly stay there on our next trip to New Orleans. Oh, and the location was EXCELLENT. Close to everything that we wanted...especially Bourbon Street!

Da Bomb
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/22/08
You want to stay in an old property, right in the French Quarter, but off the street, with courtyard, pool, an oasis? The floors are crooked, and fridge did not work, and WHO CARES? My friends and I sat on the second story balcony most of a day, watching it rain, walked down to Central Grocery for muffelettas and beer, one of the best days I have ever had. Oh, and Cafe du Monde is two blocks. Uh-huh... Service? The lovely housekeepers cleaned around us lazy boys, and smiled through it all. The 3am discussion of Creole cooking with the nite clerk, the safe feeling and gentile guests at the poolside, yea, it is a fabulous place. Perfectly tidy? no. Perfectly gracious? yes. I love this place.
