We Had A Great Stay
By VirtressB, 8/18/10
My husband and I wanted to get back to NOLA post-Katrina and we did; and this hotel was chosen to host a conference for his company. All I can say is we will go again and stay at the W. The staff inside and outside (the valet service) were fantastic on every level; we needed additional toiletries, they were provided; I left my umbrella in the car, needed it, asked for it, the valet went and got it. The hotel's location is great for getting to all the places you want to visit and since I love to walk, I kept myself busy walking, here, there, and wherever I wanted to go. At the conference, my husband was impressed with how "on" the food and beverage staff were, never an empty plate, pitcher, coffee cup...he especially like the chocolate covered coffee beans, we've tried to find them here in Atlanta, to no avail, tho. The final act that will definitely make us stay there again, is that we left a large binder in the room, called back to the hotel and informed them, and it showed up at our door today. My husband and I really enjoyed our trip to the city and were very satisfied with the location, the staff, the room, the overall ambiance that the hotel provided. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone headed to NOLA.

Won't stay again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/10
Got in to find room extremely warm. I called desk to report the problem and was told maintanence would look at it in the morning. It was too hot to sleep so called the front desk again for a cooler room. Was then told no rooms were available and the air conditioner was out in the whole hotel. In the morning was told AC would be repaired by the afternoon. NOT!!! Had another miserable night. But they "graciously "brought up a fan to the room. Now we're talking about August in New Orleans (95 degrees). The hotel is also on the shabby side. Lots of ware and tere!

Pleasant and Peaceful
By kim, 7/18/10
Husband and I spent the weekend in New Oleans for some rest and relaxation. The W was the perfect place. The Whatever/Whenever service was helpful. Check in and check out was quick. The hotel floor that I was on was so quiet and peaceful that I thought we were the only ones there. The hotel staff was helpful, courteous, and very professional. I would definitely go back again.

Great Place
By martha, 5/19/10
The W was fantastic! Service was great and the surroundings were extremely classy! It was just fun to be there! Apparently they got the message about the pool area and your room key is now required to enter the area. Besides being a terrific hotel, its location is walking distance to superb restaurants, parks, and shopping, just about everything. I know Mother's restaurant is a destination for tourists so you'll appreciate that it is right across the street! Harrah's casino is across the other street. Also across the other street is a parking lot if you want to avoid the valet tips. Price of parking is about the same as valet though. I loved this place! Please ignore reviews dated before 08/29/05. Everything changed that day!

Positive Stay
By PancakeCess, 3/25/10
My only complaint about the room was the faucet in the bathroom needed to be fixed. The concierge was more than helpful and booked a shuttle for me to the airport. The hotel is within walking distance to the French Quarter and is close to shopping and Audubon Aquarium. You will be close enough to the French Quarter without all the congestion and noise. Harrah's Casino and the Mississippi are right across the street. The wait at the front desk was never long. Anytime a friend or I called the front desk we always got speedy service, I would definitely stay here again.

My Wish was not granted
By AdamN, 12/31/09
The W Hotel New Orleans was very nice. Great detail was made to the lobby and dining area. The room was nice with a flat screen TV, mini-bar, and a clean bathroom and bedroom. Although the room looked great, the A/C in the room was not working. Almost every day during our stay the room was heated to 78 degrees. After multiple attempts to turn the temperature down by myself to my desired temperature, a call to hotel maintenance were made and a visit was made to fix the A/C…they did not. The thermostat was lowered a couple degrees by the maintenance man, but the room was still hot. After a second call to the front desk to have the A/C fixed, another man from hotel maintenance was going to visit our room to correct the problem…he never did come. When I returned to my room after dinner, all of the food and beverages from the mini-bar were missing. After a call to the front desk thinking some had broken into my room, the items had been removed because a large group of people were staying and at the hotel and there were “not enough mini-bar items available.” After about an hour, the manager called to apologies and said the items could not be put back into my room until tomorrow, the day of my departure. The staff never informed me they were going into my room during my stay to remove the mini-bar items. I strongly believe the ONLY reason a hotel staff member should enter a guests room is when they are cleaning the room or there is an emergency of some sort. There is no policy I am aware of pertaining to the mini-bar. At other 4 star hotels I stay at, once the mini-bar items are in the room at the beginning of a guests stay, it stays until the guest leaves. The smoke detector in my room had wires shooting out of it, the water from the tub/shower leaked and dripped all night, the room safety deposit box did not close, and the bed was too soft with not enough back support. The hotel appears to be nice with their iPod charger, in-hotel bar, and contemporary theme, but if the guest requirements for comfort and safety are not met, there is very little chance of their return for a future stay.

Skip this place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/08
I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. The service is horrible. I wouldn’t bother booking a reservation because they overbook and your reservation is meaningless. The site makes it seem like they cater to dogs. There is no "dog package". For the dog treats, it is cheap milk bones, not gourmet treats like the W in the French Quarter. Yes its trendy but whatever to their whenever!! I do admit I love the beds. I asked for more coffee since they ran out, the coffee girl told me very rudely she's done for the day!! So go downstairs early if you want coffee!

Only OK for a W
By WJ, 8/17/07
We've stayed at several W's in Canada in the US. The W New Orleans is at the bottom of the list. Like any W, the hotel had ultra modern decor and a great hip vibe. The problem with this hotel lies all in the service or lack there of. It started at the front desk, I was brusquely told that I was not allowed to check in to the room while my fiance parked the car (valet $$ is outrageous) because my name was not on the reservation. The room itself was very clean and very hip, but I don't know if our room had been a smoking room or if it was just musty, but it smelled terrible! The fun continued when we decided to go to the pool to wait for some friends to arrive at the hotel. The pool was crowded with at least a dozen college age kids who were not guests at the hotel (they made this blatantly obvious). We saw several couples and families come out to the pool and turn back because there were no chairs left. These uninvited kids also occupied 2 of the 3 available cabanas. After calling security to rid the pool and hotel of the squaters, the hotel simply sent up a security guard who did a cursory walk through the pool area and said nothing. Once our friends arrived, they met us at the pool while their bags were delivered to their room. After waiting 30 minutes and several phone calls to the front desk, the front desk told them they couldn't figure out which bags belonged to them, and could they please come downstairs and figure it out. The hotel is in a great location. Across from Harrah's and walking distance to many great spots. Perhaps as time moves on and people continue to move back to New Orleans the W New Orleans will be able to find the high quality service personell a hotel like the W demands.

I Loved the candles that where lit every were and the couches that where in hall ways and by the bar. Most of all I liked the Wiski Blue bar. I don't have any dislikes about this place.

Not Worth the Money
By A's Wife, 8/27/05
During my stay, I will admit that I was extremely unhappy with the quality of the hotel. I am not sure if there are smoking/non-smoking rooms, but I was not asked what I prefered upon arriving. Our room was musty and smelled like stale cigarettes as soon as we walked in. I did not want to go through the hassle of changing rooms because we were tired from the drive and had to deal with the parking situation in the area. On Tuesday morning (08/09/05), we realized that the tub was not draining properly and the tub would fill up. We called to get it fixed that day and it took 2 more times before somebody came up to see it. We also complained about the toilet flushing all day long because of a broken piece. We told the maintenance person what the reason was and he said he had fixed it. The toilet continued to do the same thing again for the next two days. Then there was the incredibly over-priced items at the Whiskey Blue Bar. We payed $40 for 3 rum+cokes and an appetizer. It just didn't meet the quality that we were observing in the entire hotel. The staff were all very polite (especially the men that helped carry the bags and the front desk attendants). I did have an issue with not being charged the government rate and being charged the $28 for valet parking (even though I did not have a car), which made the entire stay all-the-more unpleasant, but the attendant fixed the problem right away. I started to fill out the survey that I was given, but there was too much to say. Overall, my first experience at a W hotel was very poor considering that with a military rate, we were paying $109 and did not even receive a complimentary breakfast. As often as we travel, I have come to know the price associated with a 4 star hotel and yours was no where near that kind of quality.
