CAUTION
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/11
Hotel is in good location for bourbon street and french market and some restraunts. Lets start by saying first off watch your bill closely. The hotel is full of black mold which was making us sick . When it rained the ceiling leaked bad, the door would not lock and electrical problems in room. Dont plan on free breakfast because your not getting anything free. the have someone wanting to bring it to you and then they want a tip. If you dont give them one they get really pissed and bang on your door. the list goes on. This was our first stay and last there.

DO NOT STAY THERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/11
If you read all the negative reviews they were right. I tried to give the Hotel the benefit of the doubt. DO NOT STAY THERE. The people who stayed there and liked it must have very low standards.

A NIGHTMARE!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/26/11
The hotel looked nice and pretty on the outside.. but once we got passed the incredibly rude customer service desk, it became a nightmare. The halls were dark and sketchy, our room didn't have a light, the tv was accent, the capert was old & dirty, the balcony had already cave through, there were cigs all over the floor, the sheets were dirty and oh ya we got bed bug bites from staying there!!!!!!!!!! Rude people and nasty hotel, just stay away!!!!!!!

2 Blocks from EVERYTHING!!!
By Scott G, 4/25/11
My wife and I loved our romantic getaway at the Chateau Hotel. The location of this quaint hotel simply cannot be topped! We were 2 blocks from Bourbon Street (at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop), 3 blocks from St Louis Cathedral, 2 blocks from Decatur Street and Cafe Du Monde. Chateau Hotel has nearby off-street parking with valet service. The hotel has about 49 rooms, all of which have a courtyard view or a street view. The rooms have the perfect feel for the French Quarter...very romantic and picturesque! Because of its central location, we returned often to our room just to drop off souverneirs or just to use our own bathroom. Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The Chateau Hotel has almost a European feel to it. It's not the perfect place for everyone, because the room is not huge and some features were a little dated...but for a charming place that is right in the middle of the action of the French Quarter, a traveler should consider this hotel!

FLG - Stay Some Place Else.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/10
What a total nightmare. We arrived on the April 8th. Despite my being on the phone with American Express, which confirmed that they had charged for the room, they said they did not have the reservation. They could not find the reservation with their ridiculous paper system. We were told that they would give us a room for the night but we would have leave in the morning (It was the weekend of the French Quarter Festival). They gave us two rooms. One room seems to be the same room a reviewer below stayed in that was on the street and the door did not lock. Our room was behind the ice machine and also on street level. If that was not bad enough, everything in the room was damp and dingy. We slept in our clothes with our shoes on. The first time ever. We went to checkout and they claimed they found our reservations. The Assistant Manager at the front desk that morning was surly and perhaps, as a bonus, racist. He just could not seem to figure out why we would not stay. I refused to even talk to this man. Showing a stunning lack of judgment, they - who told us that there was no room at the inn - charged us for not staying. I didn't mind paying for the 8hrs that we stayed but they charged an additional $235.00 for not staying. We moved to the JW Marriot. (I managed to get the 2nd to last room in the Marriot. There is no comparison. My mother literally cried that night when she put her head on the pillow.) Finally, they, without any shame and in writing, lied to American Express about the reservation when I objected to the charges. They never sent the confirmation. I looked for it but could not find it because they had sent it the wrong e-mail address. No wonder I did not get it with wrong dates. But does not matter because our travelling companion also called the day before to confirm the reservations and our arrival on the 8th and they told her that we were all set. They refused to admit their errors. In sum, the General Manager/Owner is completely incompetent and the sad state of affairs at the hotel reflects that incompetence. I love NOLA and this hotel does it disservice every day it continues to operate.

Would not go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/28/10
The staff was very accommodating but the cleanliness of the hotel left a LOT to be desired. The floors had not been vacuumed and the drapes were soiled and DUSTY. As far as remodeling in 2005, the hotel has been abused since that time because it looked like it has not been cleaned since that time! I don't mind old hotels with charm but this is not the case with the Chateau.
