FLG - Stay Some Place Else.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/10
What a total nightmare. We arrived on the April 8th. Despite my being on the phone with American Express, which confirmed that they had charged for the room, they said they did not have the reservation. They could not find the reservation with their ridiculous paper system. We were told that they would give us a room for the night but we would have leave in the morning (It was the weekend of the French Quarter Festival). They gave us two rooms. One room seems to be the same room a reviewer below stayed in that was on the street and the door did not lock. Our room was behind the ice machine and also on street level. If that was not bad enough, everything in the room was damp and dingy. We slept in our clothes with our shoes on. The first time ever. We went to checkout and they claimed they found our reservations. The Assistant Manager at the front desk that morning was surly and perhaps, as a bonus, racist. He just could not seem to figure out why we would not stay. I refused to even talk to this man. Showing a stunning lack of judgment, they - who told us that there was no room at the inn - charged us for not staying. I didn't mind paying for the 8hrs that we stayed but they charged an additional $235.00 for not staying. We moved to the JW Marriot. (I managed to get the 2nd to last room in the Marriot. There is no comparison. My mother literally cried that night when she put her head on the pillow.) Finally, they, without any shame and in writing, lied to American Express about the reservation when I objected to the charges. They never sent the confirmation. I looked for it but could not find it because they had sent it the wrong e-mail address. No wonder I did not get it with wrong dates. But does not matter because our travelling companion also called the day before to confirm the reservations and our arrival on the 8th and they told her that we were all set. They refused to admit their errors. In sum, the General Manager/Owner is completely incompetent and the sad state of affairs at the hotel reflects that incompetence. I love NOLA and this hotel does it disservice every day it continues to operate.
