Quality Inn and Suites, Louisville

The room appreared ok in the beginning. Trying to look over the dirty carpet and walls. Look at the mattress and it was in plastic zipped cover, which I thought was a good sign. Well it seems this hotel has a problem with bed bugs. We were sitting on the sofa and found a bed bug. We took it to the office to show them. They didn't have any other rooms available, so they offered to clean. This consisted of removing all the bed linens and replacing with clean. Barely apply a small can of bed bug spray around the bed. We had to ask them to apply it to the couch since that seemed to be where the bugs where at. The maid did terrible job, so we took the can ourselves to spray down the couch and chair. We did not get any discounts, everytime we went to front desk the manager wasn't there. In which, this is derby weekend and rooms are full, how can that be? The next day at check out, our credit card was charged additional amounts two separate times...state tax, occupancy tax and sales tax on top of the occupancy tax.... The hotel didn't seem to think bed bugs was a big deal!!!

Earlier this month we went to spend a couple of days in Louisville for a frugal “staycation” After reading previous reviews, I’m not sure we stayed at the same hotel at all. This hotel wasn’t as bad as some make out- our room was pretty clean with the exception of dust bunnies around the bed and base of furniture. That was the only complaint I had. They had a hot breakfast which was a surprise. The kids loved the waffles! The hotel was in a convenient location next to the interstate and (best of all) we got a quiet, undisturbed night of sleep. A huge plus after a long day with small kids. Clean bed linens (very warm and white-no guessing if it was “clean”-down comforter). The a/c was already on high in room when we arrived which was a welcome relief after a hot day out (1st week of September had record highs in KY). There is a 24 hour restaurant (Steak and Shake) across the street. A tip: We were able to use a"travel coupon: which we discovered at McDonald's which saved us $30. Also this is a busy road! Apparently there was a major fire nearby (!) when we stayed (fire trucks all night 9/8). Our room was indoors (by the pool) and we didn’t have any noise issues. Pool noise was at acceptable levels (while open) and it was closed promptly at the posted time. It wasn’t luxurious but is was affordable, near the zoo and restaurants, with friendly staff. It served the purpose well and the kids had fun.

Booked on Expedia (bad idea) last week and was dismayed to hear at check-in that I had prepaid the full,non-discounted rate! Could’ve used my AAA discount as I’m on a tight budget here. Expedia site does advertise “book here and save!” which I felt was deceptive. Ask for a room in the back or inside (apparently Expedia booked me a cheaper room on the outside). The first night I was in a room next to the road and had difficulty sleeping. When I came down for breakfast (which, by the way, was very good) I was able to move to another room away from the road. The second night was 100% better noise-wise--the room was ok just constant traffic noise. To be fair, I am a light sleeper. The room was clean and the mattress was very comfortable. As I said earlier, breakfast had self service hot waffles and was well done. Checkout was a breeze but I didn’t get a receipt (again having been recharged in advance by Expedia). I would probably stay again if need be but would call or book direct to save money. Will be returning to job search as I attempt to relocate. Free wi-fi works great! The wall in my bathroom looked as if there was blood on the wall above the toilet, but my real complaint didn't come until the next morning after checkout. This is when BED BUG BITES started appearing all over my legs, back and arms. Thanks quality inn....You stink!!

will never stay at this hotel again. the carpet was dirty, the walls are dirty, not to mention the holes in the wall. The red light on the phone blinked all night and when I called the front desk they said they were having trouble with the answering system and did not know how to fix it and we would just have to deal with it. The staff at the front desk was not very friendly. The room was very small and did not smell fresh. Not quiet at all - all night people were in the parking lot making noise. Would not suggest this hotel to anyone

I spent the night last week in Louisville with the wife and kids. Looking for an affordable hotel room, I saw a billboard for this hotel on the interstate. They had a non smoking room for less than $65. The guy at the desk saw I has a van full and upgraded us to a suite by the pool. The kids had fun swimming in the heated pool. The room was clean and functional with a fridge and microwave and pull out sofa bed. Breakfast exceeded our expections with biscuits and gravy and waffles in addition to the expected continental breakfast. It was a great way to spend the evening and I will definitely return when we visit the Zoo this summer. Tip- ask for a poolside room- those are the inside rooms- other rooms have outside entrances.

nice room but it was not very clean. microwave had cup of coffee in it. took all night for the room to get warmed up.

Loved the room. People very friendly. None of the bars or exercise rooms open. Disappointing. Jacuzzi closed. Swimming pool was cold.

Sleep in your car, bathe at the gas station and grab an Egg McMuffin the next morning. It would beat a one night stay in this dump! The maid yelled @ my sister and her daughter and two other women in the pool to "GET OUT OF THE POOL!" during normal use hours. Even the manager confirmed it was fine to swim. In retrospect, the pool smelled like it hadn't been properly clorinated, so the maid might have been doing the customers a favor?!? DIS-GUST-ING STAFF AND ACCOMADATIONS!!!! The remaining "cleaning staff" of 2 men and one woman stood around and talked for 1 hour while we gathered our items to check out early while a 4th male employee slept on dining room chairs lined up in the hall. Meanwhile cups and cigarette butts were on top of drinking fountains and brouchere cabinets. Oh yes, did I mention the screaming maid lit up a cigarette after she got done with her tirade at the paying customers before she went off to "clean house" and started yelling about what she'd found in customer #220's room. Wow, only Quality staff at the Quality Inn. Must be a work relief program they have with the State of KEN-Tucky. We booked for 2 nights, checked out after one night, got charged FOR TWO nights when we shouldn't have been charged for ANY per the"Quality pledge of Satisfaction." It took them 19 days to make a partial refund- still waiting for A REFUND on the night WE DIDN'T STAY! We were told they were having a problem with their "credit vendor" and to call the Customer Complaint Department. The "credit vendor" must be the hotel owner since Quality Inns are independently owned. I didn't think anything could be worse than the hotel until I talked to the Complaint Department, which consisted of Melissa "I don't have to tell you my last name." I think Melissa must be going through n training before she can join the cleaning staff. Wow. Stunning interpersonal skills. If you weren't pissed off from your stay at the Port-o-let Inn you WILL BE when you talk to Melissa. The next time you see the Quality Inn @ exit 16 on Bardstown Road KEEP DRIVING!

This hotel was awful. You could hear everything in the hotel and the people coming in and out of the hotel from the back door. No quiet factor in this hotel. There are mounds of people on the grounds of the parking lot adjacent to the hotel that you don't even want to walk outside. I would not recommend this hotel.
