Good Location
By StevenY, 11/12/08
Stayed there for a football weekend. The location is excellent if you are into late nights. The hotel is surrounded by bars, shops and restaurants and is only about a mile and a half from the football stadium. The hotel is clean and the staff was friendly. It was a bit pricey since they jacked up the price for the football weekend but for any other time this hotel would be a value.

Very dissapointed!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/16/08
Stayed at the Sheraton Hotel for the Iowa vs. Iowa State game. I paid $300 for an average room for one night, way too expensive!!! For the money I paid I would expect to at least have free parking but nope they charged me. They didn't even have complimentary breakfast and this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, in their dreams. They had 2 1-Liter bottles of water in the room which they had the nerve to have a sign on them that said they were 3.00 per bottle and not complimentary. After 11pm they close the lobby and only let occupants who are staying in the hotel up to the rooms. If you are a guest visiting someone you met and you would like to go to their room you were not allowed in the room. Even if the occupant comes down to let you in if you are not on the original guest list when you first checked in, you can't go up. I don't know about others but I have have parents and the last thing I need is to pay $300 for a room and them tell me who I can and can't have in my room, Thats Ridiculous!!! I also had security come up to my room when we were all sleep and told me to make sure we are quiet cause they heard noise earlier. It is a Saturday night and one of the biggest college campuses in the nation and they had the nerve to tell me to quiet down when we weren't making any noise as if we were having a party. I didn't pay to be harrased by the hotel.

Definitely a college town hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/07
The hotel has cushy beds, but is in need of an update....carpet, bathrooms and decor leave a lot to be desires. Service is great as well, but it is barely worth the $$.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/23/07
We paid by check upon check-in. We were told that we needed to pay $100 in addition to the regular room rate, as a deposit, because of previous guests damaging rooms. We were told at check-in that the $100 would be refunded at check-out. It wasn't. We were told at check-out that instead a refund check would be mailed the next day. It wasn't. After numerous phone calls and the help of a travel agent, the refund check finally arrived a couple of weeks later. There were noisy guests in the halls at 2:00 O'clock in the morning.

Excellent Stay, Excellent Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/06
The staff at the Sheraton could not be better. They are friendly, helpful, and absolutely the best I have ever had during any hotel stay! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Central location is nice with shops and restuarants within walking distance. There is a great park practically right outside the door for kids to play and the indoor pool and hotub were great, with a nice deck to sit outside in summer. A few things to be aware of if you have not been here before or if you are booking online: $8/per day will be added to your bill for parking. If you choose to use the fitness center, it does cost $10 for a pass. There is also a $10 charge for internet in room. Overall experience was EXCELLENT!

Safest Place in Town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/06
I had intended to write this long ago and owe it to the Hotel and its staff. I was in this hotel when the tornedos hit in April, 2006. The staff was young adults. The professionalism of these people was without parallel. I recorded the name of the G.Mgr.: Jay Lea Vessuer. He and his staff earned the praise of all those whom they directed promptly and with great calm to the safety of the basement ballroom, out of harm's way. I felt lucky and proud of the hotel for choosing this particular staff and the obvious training they'd had in the event of the unprecedented. The hotel is not the most modern but the care was old fashioned. I mean the staff was thoughtful, considerate, and responsible in the ways that money cannot buy. I'll always return. Fun Night
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/04/06
They were very friendly and were very prompt with requests and answering questions. The hotel is right in the middle of all the bars in town and staying was the perfect ending to my bachelorette party. We waited til the last minute to reserve the room and we got an awesome price also. Thank you!

Great holiday stay & can't wait to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/13/05
It was the first holiday not spent with the inlaws in 20 years. Look forward in spending more holidays like this. If we're to go to Iowa City for Christmas our stay will surely be at the Sheraton Iowa City.
