Days Inn, Atlantic, October 2004
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/4/04
Days Inn is located about nine miles outside of Atlantic. Actually, as of October 2004, any national hotel/motel chain is right off the expressway rather than within Atlantic city limits. There are two independent inns within Atlantic, if you must stay in town. However, I might get a local recommendation first, as I cannot review either of the two inn establishments.
Once we arrived in Atlantic, we found Days Inn to be pleasant, clean, and comfortable. Normally, we stay in Holiday Inns or Holiday Inn Express hotels, if that helps to determine our what our expectations were.
Days Inn also allowed pets, as we have a three-month old puppy that was too young to be kenneled locally. At first, we were apprehensive when they told us we could book a pet room, as we are sensitive to pet and smoke odors. But, once we arrived, we were pleased that the room was odorless.
At check-in they also served fresh-baked cookies, one for each registered guest. However, our room rate was around $53.00 instead of the $45 listed on this site.
The hotel also offered a light breakfast. They have two commercial waffle irons with pre-made batter already measured out in plastic cups. They also offered donuts, cereal, milk, juice, and other items and condiments, including coffee. We noticed that most guests enjoyed having a fresh hot waffle.
The hotel probably found it beneficial to offer breakfast, as there is only one food establishment to eat at nearby the interstate. Otherwise, all meals require driving into town, which is nine miles away. However, in town, there are many fast food establishments including Subway, TCBY, Burger King, and there were many more than what I can remember at the moment. There was also a local family restaurant that offered a breakfast buffet for $5.99.
If you are interested in shopping, it is limited to K-Mart, in town. Most people in Atlantic do their shopping in Des Moines or Omaha, NE, and both are at least an hour-and-a-half away. Otherwise, I know they have a nice library. I believe I also noticed a bowling alley.
Overall, the locals are very nice! There is usually a group of 10-20 coffee buddies that meet at Burger King every morning. Feel free to pull up a chair and join them if you are ever out in Atlantic.
