Hotel Marion, Marion

I stayed in Marion to attend to family matters. When I entered the town I shopped it. Marion has either 1 Fleabags at thirty five plus tax for single person. Unclean. Nasty. 2 Name brands ninety per night plus tax. Or this motel. I payed fifty-four dollars a night. It was clean, which is important to me. They change the sheets and give you fresh towels each morning. The bed was comfortable and the comforter in good shape. 2 sisters own this motel and one of them are normally at the front desk. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful to a stranger to this town. It's also the only motel situated in the historic downtown district. It's quiet and great for a walk in the evening. It's in a safe area. I did my shopping and this is the best value in Marion for a clean room with a pleasant staff.

We were in town for a business meeting that was at the Hotel Marion we were all given rooms at the hotel, the first room I was given was a disaster, trash was all over the floor, the mattress was was thrown off the bed there were clothes thrown all over and the lights did not work. I was then given another room I took my bags to my room, and on the advice of my husband, was checking the bed for bedbugs and other critters, I discovered the sheets were dirty, I am not talking stained I am talking black and crusty. I went to the front desk and asked for clean sheets and was told that house keeping was closed, I asked if I could have clean sheets and I would put them on my self, I was then told they could not get to the clean sheets and that I would have to wait for the next day for sheets, and there were no other rooms available, thankfully one of the other girls had a double room and I was able to sleep in her room. Of the 4 days and 3 nights that we were there, my assigned room never did get clean sheets. Of the 23 rooms our company reserved for our employees only 13 tv's worked, 19 alarm clocks worked and the smoke detectors went off in the middle of the night. We could not plug in the fridge and microwave at the same time(that's if the rooms had them) they advertised for all the rooms to have them. Internet access was only for the 1st floor rooms. This had to be the nastiest motel I have ever stayed at and they call them selves a HOTEL!

The service at this hotel is wonderful. Friendly, curtious staff that was always willing to help. They are good people! I would give them my business again anytime!
