Overall a good experience, but not perfect!
By KathyB, 10/22/07
After reading previous reviews for this location, I was apprehensive about staying there but was happy that we did. All of the complaints that other members listed were not witnessed by our party. We spent $550 for three nights, and for that price, we should have had an outstanding experience. The room was comfortable and the extra amenities to make our stay conducive to sleep were unexpected and nice. The beds, although doubles, were very soft and cozy. The TV movies, etc. were enjoyable and the climate control in the room made it comfortable. The hot tub and pool area were very clean and well maintained. The sauna did not work. The housekeeping staff was excellent and worked very hard to accommodate our different schedules during our extended stay. They also left extra coffee and toiletries for us. The only problems that we experienced were minor: The blow drier and the exhaust fan in the bathroom were not operational. We had a slight argument with room service over the bill , which we ultimately won, and there were some misscommunications between our party and the front desk staff with our room charges. Overall a good stay, but keep a close watch on your charges for the room and for any room service you may choose to order.

Come back every year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/07
WE visit the Crowne Plaza in Springfield every Labor Day and love it. The beds are great and I love the lighted make-up mirror in the bathroom. We always have good service and look forward to staying. Our group rides Harley's for this weekend stay and we are treated exceptionally well. They have good discount rates for AARP which is appreciated.

Terrible hotel. Period.
By Kristopher, 07/21/07
Stayed for a conference. The conference was great, but that's a result of the organization. The hotel meeting space is acceptable, it's the rooms and such I rate so low. First, very limited concierge service, and despite no one available, will not loan out luggage carts. They want a tip, even if you have to wait 45 minutes to get service. Parking is great, except that they have half the lot blocked off and you can get stuck dead-ending in two of the lanes. Staff was rude, non-helpful and worst part...though they have nice escalators, they have check in and registration on the SECOND FLOOR with a ton of room on the first floor unused. Rooms smoky. Sheets and comforters and blankets unclean and stained. Bathrooms great, but you have to beg for towels. Housekeeping is very late and insufficient. Rooms are small, beds are uncomfortable and hard to sleep two adults without discomfort. Trash wasn't emptied until we finally piled it at the door to make it obvious. Three cans worth. And come on...$44.95 per week or $10 per day for high speed internet? You have got to be kidding. This is a convention center. Ninety percent of the people who stay are there on business. I can drive to Drury Inn and stay cheaper with more. Business center has two computers and screens are in front of wide-open windows, no privacy, teenagers EVERYWHERE in the computer room on My Space. No way to get things done. I know I'm being harsh. But I've stayed at tons of convention centers and conference sites and this was by far, the worst of all-time. I brought my kids and they were miserable.

Mixed experiences
By Ellen, 04/09/07
Have stayed at this hotel several times for meetings and conventions; while it is convenient, it is overpriced for the Springfield area. The restaurant service is extremely slow, and food quality is somewhat lacking. The $10/day internet charge is also exhorbitant, given that most hotels do not charge for this service. Rooms are fairly well maintained and beds are quite comfortable, although I noted mold on the ceiling (in my deluxe room) during my last visit. Vending machines are few, far between, expensive and often unstocked...bring your own beverages.

It was expensive...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/06
We found it nice but we paid a hefty price for it to be nice. The resturant was very nice. By the time you filled the hot tub it was not all that warm.

Great experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/06
We checked in at midnight Thursday evening. The gal that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. A porter was immediately at our side asking if we needed help. With our AAA card, we negotiated a reasonable room rate and when I asked for a room on a high floor - she put us on 11 which is two floors from the top. Great view. We loved the outdoor patio on the roof. This is probably the quietest room I've ever stayed in. We will definately go back to Crown Plaza.

Smoking Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/06
I had a confirmed non-smoking room and while my room was non-smoking the rooms around me were smoking, which came in under the door. A hotel of the standard should be all non-smoking or only have one floor at the most. In changing times with health concerns about smoking and Springfield just passing a clean air act, the Crowne Plaza needs to get with the times. I did notice that there is a smoking lounge on the second floor that should be enough!!!

Overpriced Trash
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/30/06
This is one of the two or three worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The heat was broke and the air conditioning was stuck on. The ceiling was falling in. The Pepsi machines did not work. The help was very stuck up, catering to those in suits and ties but ignoring those of us in "travelling clothes". The rooms were small (especially for $149/night). I would sleep in my car before I'd stay another night in a Crowne Plaza!

Wonderful place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/30/06
Absolutely loved staying there. Restaurant and bar with entertainment on the premises. Loved going up to the sundeck at the end of the day to watch the sunset. Relaxing, and well-appointed rooms. I can't wait to go back!
