DoubleTree by Hilton Collinsville - St. Louis, Collinsville

The recent comments below the prior are true and obviously she has not had much steak in her life to know the difference. Irregardless, the Double tree did do itself in as well as the prior management/owner of this establishment. I actually gave this place a second chance last week while I attended an event at the Gateway Center. While renovation has occurred, you forget what lies behind the walls... mold and lots of it. I became (again) ill from staying here, will never return. Staff away from the staff unless you really, really need something. They are rude. I actually enjoyed the Drury across the street. Even the more economical hotels in that area are best opt for than Double tree.

I thought this hotel was fantastic. It was WAY more than I expected! I was in town for work but happy to find out it was super close to downtown St. Louis. I'm not sure what the background is with the below comments but their reviews seem more personal and have nothing to do with the current status of the hotel. The staff were very nice, rooms were clean (no signs of the bugs and rats as mentioned), and Porter's was unbelievable. That was one of the best steak's I've ever had and certainly nothing I would have expected at a Doubletree hotel. Go see for yourself. I am definitely going to recommend this to everyone at my company that travels in the area.

But not that much. They made their beds and now they can lie in them (bedbugs and all!). Archon will be much better off in St. Louis than it ever was in Collinsville and at that awful Doubletree!

For 2 decades, people attending the Archon science fiction covention have stayed at the hotel now owned by Doubletree, but nolonger. People never stayed there for the service (which was grudgingly given at best), nor the room rates (which were jacked sky-high for most conventions and particularly Archon), or for the lovely accomidations (people who mentioned rats, bedbugs and roaches in other reviews were being kind) and after the SUPER 8 was built it wasn't even for the convenience of location (since the SUPER 8 was physically closer to the convention center entrance and a MUCH..MUCH more level and easy walk). People stayed there because it was the only facility within a reasonable distance of the covention center that had the space and resources to augment the hosting of the festivities. Doubletree is not interested in that. Not interested in the amout of money the convention brought in to many other local businesses (to the restaraunts that fed them, to the gas stations that supplied them the fuel for their often long journeys home, to the stores that supplied the various things they forgot to bring or suddenly decided they needed, to the other hotels that housed the huge numbers of guests that the Doubletree alone never could manage). That is done and gone now, and I think it is for the best (well, the best for Archon... Collinsville will be much the poorer for it). Archon will thrive elsewhere.... Can Colllinsville?

These lowlifes have driven Archon, a science fiction convention that has been held in Collinsville for around 20 YEARS, away from the Gateway Convention Center. WAY TO GO GUYS! The loss of revenue to the other hotels and area resturaunts obviously does not matter to Doubletree, who finally (after years of complaints from any and all that stayed there) spent a small fortune to bring their sub-standard facilities up to health codes and slap a shiny new facade on their decaying structure. Nice. still smells of garbage and sewage around the lobby. . . ew. Well, Archon is moving into St. Louis and will likely stay there. Bye-Bye Doubletree! And thanks to you.. Bye-Bye Collinsville. Hope your fellow business people appreciate what you have done. :)

Wow! Collinsville finally has a high quality full-service hotel! I visited this DoubleTree Hotel for it's Grand Opening Event in April. I was so impressed! I had been to the hotel when it was under the former management and the new DoubleTree could not be more different! The new look is upscale with a trendy feel, the rooms have the most comfortable beds, the outdoor courtyard is a nice addition, the food is great, and the staff is very courtesy and professional.

though not fully renovated just yet, the change is amazing. ignore all the previous reviews. I'd highly recommend it!! for the price, Doubletree has given this location an elegance that the other hotels just don't have. I've already booked my next stay in 2 weeks!

This hotel was a nice place to stay and the the service was outstanding. Nice people that were helpful and friendly from the front desk to the bar to the restaurant. Speaking of the restaurant. We ate the Sunday breakfast buffet which was absolutely wonderful. Great tasting food with an awesome selection. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would 100% stay again.

We were sent to a room that smelled, had water damage, a cracked bathroom sink, mold on the tub. The staff were not very helpful, refusing to move someone who had so much water damage in their room that the walls were soft, and had mold all over. I can't imagine what is in the kitchen/ restaurant area. As an added gift, I came home with bed bug bites! We will NEVER go back to this hotel!!
