Dated and Expensive

No breakfast, old rooms smell like smoke. The only positive is the location, its that simple!

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/07
My family and I were taking a trip up to Thompson Falls, so we got on the internet to find a place to stay close by, Needless to say we found this Best Western. It does make it sound really nice on the Website, but we will never stay here again. The restaurant closed at 8:30 pm. There was NO continental Breakfast and the food prices were extremely high. The room was okay, the floor squeeks everywhere, the bathroom door wouldn't close right and when you did get it closed , good luck opening it back up without hurting yourself. Throughout the night you could hear the trains go by. For the price, we will find someplace else to stay. It's a good thing you are reading these reviews before you go, I didn't.

Needs a face lift
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/07/05
When we opened the doors to our rooms you could smell the stuffyness. The hall and stairs are really tired looking and there was nothing special at all about the rooms. Vanity area was very small.

Don't be fooled!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/05
This hotel will fool you because of it's location, right on the beach. However, they fail to mention the trains that run in front of the hotel 24/7/365. They have made an attempt to dampen the noise by enclosing the front of the hotel with glass, but that only helps the hallway noise echo throughout the building. If you want to enjoy the view from your room overlooking the lake the decks are nice, but there are no screen doors on the sliders, so the bugs invade your room. The wait staff in the restaurant are less than attentive and seem to be more interested in hanging around the bar and chatting each other up. The AAA travel guide gave this hotel a 3 star rating, so they were fooled. Do yourself a favor stay somewhere else and drive to the public access area for the beach and views, they are much better.

Disappointed for the price
By Michele, 07/18/05
I paid premium seasonal price for this hotel and I was hugely disappointed. I was only there for a night, and thought being close to town would be nice. Well, I was within walking distance, but most everything was closed. Dinner was good, and dinner service was great. Hotel staff were so-so. If I'm paying big bucks, I expect super nice people! The room was clean but poorly decorated. They are upgrading, so maybe by this time next year, it will be worth the price. Until then, unless you want to take advantage of being right on the lake, stay elsewhere.

A good value for the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/05
My family and I found ourselves planning a somehwat unexpected Christmas trip to Sandpoint and even w/ short notice I was able to secure a nice double room for 98/day. True, the rooms are somewhat dated and the "Continental Breakfast" food in the morning extremely lacking, but it was better than nothing to choose from (although it would have been nice if the on-site restaurant which was adorable and a great value for the money would have been open as a choice for breakfast) and the rooms were very clean. I couldn't help noticing, though, the pervasive odor of chlorine throughout the place. I know motels have to keep the public pools/hot tubs well chlorinated, but it was VERY, almost TOO at times, overpowering. There was so much chlorine in the pool that my children's skin broke out for days after using it. The service at the front desk was great; while we weren't told the time of breakfast upon checking in and missed it the first day (5-9-be up early) Shannon at the front desk was happy to give us whatever we wanted out of the pantry to take to our rooms. We made it on time each day thereafter.

Waste of Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/04
My husband and I and our two small daughters made reservations at what we thought would be a first-class resort in Sandpoint. What a mistake! The website descriptions are totally misleading. The rooms are dated, despite supposed remodeling. The $149.00 king rooms are ridiculously small, which was not disclosed at the time of our reservation. Our bathroom door did not shut all the way. The "continental breakfast" consists of the cheapest packaged food I've ever seen. We left a day early, extremely disappointed. We will not be staying there again.
