Stay somewhere else
By rindog, 4/8/10
I didn't like anything about this place. It is old, dank, dirty, noisy, small, horrible bed, crappy tv, not the best staff. Needs to be remodeled. I could and should have paid a little more to stay somewhere nicer. I am on a tight budget but the value isn't worth it for this place. Alot of options in Waikiki, this one shouldn't be one of them.

Next time, I'll read reviews of other properties
By B. Hendrix, 12/5/08
The family or Ohana spirit has left the building. I was served a penalty due to wanting a junior suite for 4 people when management swares only 3 can occupy the room. Management states that the amount of items provided is for 3 & would be a hardship for the hotel to issue soap, towels, change sheets for 4 versus 3. The big no-no they say why 4 cannot be in the room--it's a fire code violation. This 2 room jr. suite contains a sofa sleeper, cooking area, and TV. The room by it self just beyond the sofa sleeper has a queen bed. The plus with the queen bed jr. suite, the room with the queen bed has a door that seperates it from the restroom and entry room. This is/was my sixth and final stay at the Ohana. The hotel stay in the past was always granted the queen bed jr. suite with 4 -- the only way to accomodate 4 is a room with 2 double beds, or, a convenient non cost effective upgrade to 2 seperate rooms with connecting doors. The hotel of course blames it on the popular travel deal web site, stating they were not informed the ages of all 4 guests. Does the age of the 2 kids with us matter at this point? with fire marshall hotel manager holding the reigns of corporate greed. Offer an upgrade to every unsatisfied consumer and eventually you will make profit.

close to everything
By Maureen S, 7/22/08
We stayed at the hotel about 3 weeks ago, the location I thought was great. The pool was not big but it is the city and your close to the beach. I was not there for the pool. The hotel was clean, the bathrooms need updated but new carpet, drapes and bedspreads. The rooms were large and had a blow dryer and refridgerator, we had a combo and standard it slept 6 comforatbly. The combo was well equiped with stove, sink, refridgerator and cooking supplies. We stayed on the back side on a upper floor it was not noisy at all. Breakfeast was walking distance was $3.00, we did not rent a car we walked or took the bus, which the bus stop is right outside the buiding. Great shopping, Tiffanys, Be Be, Juicy, Lois, Coach, you can shop in beach attire, cool. I thought the area was clean and everyone was friendly. We plan on going back next year.

Great for the price.
pros: This was a good hotel. we were a party of 6 and we got two connecting rooms which was great. the space was good enough and it was very clean. The house keeping staff was great and very friendly. The overall service team of this hotel was GREAT!. The Location was nice...just to the rear of the international market place and next door to a market. There are alot of shops and places to eat close by. Cons: the parking was smaller than usual and if you got back to the hotel late they make you park afew blocks away! I'm know there are alot of people that comment on the parking charge, but i've traveled to the island a few times already and its normal to pay $10 to 15 a night...so don't be shocked. The worst thing about our location was the hookers...yes hookers...there posted out side on Kuhio Ave...HPD has to clean that area up...i thought it was a family place...not Vegas. Also, on Kalakaua Ave in front of the International market place there were bumb fights!?! just be careful after dark.

Clean but noisy hotel
By Frank, 9/30/07
The hotel was very clean and the staff at the front desk was helpful. The room had good accomodations for a person using a wheelchair. Two things to consider when staying here are the noise factor and somewhat difficult to use elevators. The noise from some of the guests is a bit annoying at night. The elevators use a card system which did not work all the time so getting up to the room was a bit of a challenge. Everyone was complaining about it. The view is non existant but who goes to Hawaii to stay in a hotel room anyway? The price is reasonable for what you get. We had a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, stovetop and sink. The room included free coffee and tea every day. Located in the heart of Waikiki so easy walking distance to everything.

Older but great location!
By Kissilicious, 7/1/06
Considering most people dont go on vacation with the intention of spending a lot of time in their hotel room, this is a nice hotel in a great location. Waikiki beach is just around the corner, the international market place is across the street and the surrounding blocks are littered with a variety of shops and great restaurants. The hotel was clean and in good condition. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The parking garage is a nightmare but fortunately there are attendants to help and parking in Honolulu is a nightmare everywhere. The only negative comment I have is that upon check in they had messed up our rooms but they actually gave us nicer, larger ones for the inconvience. We were 2 floor apart instead of adjoining rooms, but like I said initially, all we did was sleep there so really cares!
