This is too bad
By Jen, 1/6/10
yes, its a little old, BUT, a hotel in Hawaii for 60bucks a night ? What do you expect ? We stayed there in Feb. '09, it was fine. We were very happy with it. No rats, bugs, whatever. It was well worth the visit. In fact, I was just trying to book it again, but...... I guess its gone.

It is what it is...
By see real name, 1/7/09
What did I like? $60/night through one of the online hotel sites. What didn't I like? Well... as I write this from the room (free wireless internet - get that in Waikiki), about the only thing I can complain about is the intermittently noisy A/C. Oh, and you can't buy alcohol nearby - drive about two miles south and you're good. To all the bad reviews... WTF did you expect for under $100 and across the street from the beach in an area with very few hotels? Feel free to go stay at the Turtle Bay Resort for $200/night. Newsflash, YOU'RE IN HAWAII, GET OUT OF YOUR ROOM AND GO EXPLORE. My room is clean and the staff is very friendly...I'd definitely stay again, but then again, I don't need much and never stay at fancy resorts... PS, warn your significant other that they don't have hairdryers and ironing boards/irons. They *may* have them if you ask, but I never did... I'm very low maintenance.

Yuk!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/08
This place need to be demolished before it gets any more infested by rats and all the little un-wanted creatures. My children were horrified of the smell, the condition etc. I couldn't put my baby on the floor because the carpet were so stained and filthy. The service is the worst ever. The worst place ever, worst experience in Paradise. I would definately NOT recommend this place to my friends or to anyone I know. Stay in your car or sleep at the beach. You'll feel much better.

The worst part of my trip to Hawaii
By Danobou, 3/25/08
An unpleasent experience. The rooms were small, and uncomfortable. It was cramped. It wasn't very clean, but it was an ok place to stay at. Sure they had contenential breakfast and all but the serivice wasn't so great. In fact, I don't believe they did any cleaning at all. It had a great location though, it was near a quiet, peaceful beach. It also had a decent swimming pool. So if you're someone who doesn't care where they sleep, and wants something that's easy on the wallet, this would be a good place. It was an ok place but not the place I would ever want to stay at again.

dont stay there
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/26/08
i am a local and live about 40 minutes up the coast, on the north shore, this motel is horrible, ive never stayed there nor do any other locals I know, the whole town is mormon which means EVERYTHING is closed on sundays, no alcohol,etc... if you want a great hotel go to turtle bay resort, its 15 minutes away and you can still drive to polynesian cultural center if youd like (in laie).

O M G - Horrible!
By DH, 2/2/08
What a dump! Run! Run! Run! The motel was old and very run down. The room was disgusting. The carpet was sticky and the linens smelled of bad cologne and BO. Our room was next to the garbage dumpster and the maids laundry area. They woke us up every morning with their loud talking and banging around. The window in the bathroom did not close and lock so there was no security. The bathroom was gross with mold and ripped vinyl flooring. I'd rather sleep on the beach, it would be cleaner.

be forewarned.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
i have stayed at this location and am not too picky. so for me it was acceptable and i felt comfortable reserving a room for my brother. i have stayed many places in the south pacific that were similar one star stays. but on this one occasion this one was not acceptable for my brother for whom i made reservations. he was alone and had a single. after the first night he awoke and was covered with small red bites. when he reported it to the front desk, there was flat denial that it was from their room or bed. i will not in the future recommend this stay to anyone. they refused to accept responsibity for the conditions that exist there. be forewarned. it is in a lovely area. and the staff on duty was plesant to me when i stayed there previous to this date. but obviously that is not the case for everyone. be forewarned.

Bring bug spray and sheets...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/07
We decided to get out of the tourist trap of Honolulu. We didn't know we were stepping back in time as well when we happened on this hotel. I have been all over the world and look for out-of-they-way family-owned places to soak up local flavor. The mattresses at this hotel felt and looked like they were the original matresses from when the hotel was built. The bathroom was atrocious. And the door to the outside was rotting away. When we turned on lights, bugs scrurried everywhere. The kids wanted to take a dip in the pool. I wouldn't let them near it. Sad. This could be a GREAT hotel and draw a GREAT crowd. I understand the town is basically mormon. I know they have money. How can they let a hotel in their "domain" get so bad? Unless they are the ones who get the clean sheets...

Mouse Hunt
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/06
Not only was the bathroom covered in ants, but we had a mouse running around our room all night! The location is perfect, but the rooms made me feel like I was staying in Mexico. Laie gives me the feeling of a dirty Mexican town on a beautiful island.

Appreciate what you have.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/7/06
My family and I stayed here two weeks ago. It wasn't much to look at nor was the conditions of room suitable for my standards. However, We made the best of it, we enjoyed mingling with the community kids who snuck in for a swim at the pool, the staff were friendly and kind, I admired the polynesian hospitality something we never experience in the Mainland. I guess that's what they mean when they speak of "The Aloha Spirit". Staying here was a valuable lesson for my family and I, through this experience we've learned to appreciate the things we have, more so we've learned to come together as a family. I will definitely return to Laie Inn with my entire family.
