Kulakane, Lahaina

We loved this place, it really is right on the water. The area is called Honokowai, it's about half way between Kaanapali and Kapalua, but the prices are way better. We stayed in unit #210 and everything was perfect. They had everything we needed for the beach, beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers and towels. This unit is really nice, recently remodeled, great furnishings, beautiful art work, it's just great. The kitchen has everything, even a Kitchenaid blender. Great snorkeling right out front, you can always see turtles and lots of fish. We rented through VRBO, look for the ad that says "Quiet and Relaxing, Except for the Waves" in Honokowai.

The views from the lanai are perfect whether watching the sun rise or set. We love hearing the sound of the ocean waves. Each unit is well equipped, with the exception of unit 210, which needs to be equipped as the other units we have stayed in. Because you will have to keep the windows open to feel the breeze (no air conditioning), you will hear occasional road noise. Not much of a beach, but the pool area has lounges for sun worshippers. The staff, Judith Ann and Ron, are always willing to help and will make you feel at home the minute you arrive. Pupu Fridays provides a great opportunity for you to meet other families staying there. Upon landing at the Kahalui, stop by Costco and K-Mart to pick-up your food, beverages and souvenirs. You will save a lot of money that way. The condo has two barbeques to grill your meats and a laundry mat ($1.00 per wash or dry) to wash your clothes, so pack light. Safeway in Lahaina is a lot cheaper than Star Market which is closer to the Kulekane.

Everything was provided. My mom is a cook and when she saw how many things were already in the unit we were very happy. We did go to Safeway at Lahaina to do the shopping and found that everything we needed was there. I defenitely give this place a great review. At times I felt I was at home. The waves crashing and scenery would tell me otherwise. I Loved this place and will never forget the great time I had there. ALOHA AND MAHALO. MIKE SOLIS
