The hotel has a great location, the staff was delightful, the rooms were nice and clean and the Melting Point music venue on the property was fantastic.

Wouldn't choose it if I were you.
By contributor, 06/11/09
Although the staff was nice, the rooms were horrible. My bathroom had mildew/mold on the shower curtain, I saw a roach, and no refridgerator or microwave. (although I heard some rooms had it) But for the price, I could have stayed at a motel 6. The food was horrible! The other people in my group who also stayed there were also very disappointed. Many complained of a strong mildew smell in their rooms, other complained that there tub was dirty. House Keeping didnt replace the coffee, one ladies blow dryer blew up. Not to mention, what is the purpose of having a Hotel shuttle that isnt't accessible for anyone. Every time we requested service, it was being used for something else. Mind you, the hotel was only at 30% occupancy at the time. Our group consisted of over half of that occupancy. I could go on for hours. Do not go here. I mean why, when you can go right up the street to the Hilton for the same price?

No thanks!

Would not go back - way overpriced for what you get - We paid an AAA rate of $120 for what amounted to a $70 motel room. Musty smell in room, loud air conditioner, and housekeeping yelling back and forth outside my room at 8am on Sunday. Also, tried to eat breakfast at the Hoyt house, no way - it was packed, they said they would call our room when they had a table ready - NEVER called. We just left the hotel - too annoyed to eat. I will say the Melting point music venue was awesome - we saw 2 incredible groups on Sat night for a $10 cover - great deal. And we were able to just walk to our room after at midnight, so that was very cool. Other then that we were very disappointed.

We liked it

My husband and I came to Athens in early May 2008 for a house hunting prip and we needed a nice place to stay, close to the UGA and downtown. The hotel was what we thought it would be. They gave us a room in the first level saying all second-level rooms were occupied, but we didn't mind. We had breakfast in their Hoyt House restaurant 3 times and the food was very good. They were the only place in town who had fruit salad (I tried a couple of other places for lunch and they didn't). Eggs Benedict were great. Parking was not a problem, plenty of spaces. May be the time of our visit was right, since we left just before Mother's day and commencement at the UGA. The room was nothing special, a comfortable big bed, very soft sheets. Once we forgot to leave tips and housekeeping gave absolutely no additional supplies. Free high-speed internet, free parking .. well, what else .. great food for breakfast .. rather quiet neighbors :) I would recommend this hotel.

Basically, it was simply amazing. The staff is wonderful. They help you at the drop of a hat. The Hoyt House food was awesome...I definitely reccommend spending the extra dollar on that food.

Too Many Irons on the Fire
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/06
Parking is terrible We were there in June and with weddings, special events and Inn guests (who did not receive reserved parking spaces) it was very chaotic. We had non-smoking room but guests waiting for another wedding congregated outside our non smoking room to smoke. We had to elbow out and try to hold our breath when we left our room. The concrete pillar outside our room was broken and jagged stones stuck out. I cut my arm on the stone. The manager did nothing about it although I complained at check out and followed up in writing. There were small black bugs in bathroom at night like little beatles. The wedding we were there for was lovely but I would never recommend the place to anyone. They are trying to have too many things going on at once.

Great place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/06
What a change of pace from your ordinary "hotel". This is a boutique inn with character and great amenities. Loved the Spa and dinning facility...architecturally speaking the conf center is incredible, spacious and great for the wedding party we attended. Music Venue is a great place as well...

AWESOME MUSIC VENUE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/06
The service was great. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The music venue was awesome. The breakfast at the Hoyt House was very good. The pub was a great place to watch sports events. The location is perfect if visiting UGA.
