2 reviews for Quality Inn & Suites, Gainesville
needs work . . .
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
this property has apparently been " re-done " . i stayed here yrs ago when it was a holiday inn (?) property. i think the bldg itself is 60+ yrs old. it's showing it's age. they're NOT done " re-doing " it yet. the girl at the front desk was friendly but , she could not give directions to anyplace. the rooms still smell of fresh paint. they were clean & had comfortable beds. the breakfast was VERY disappointing (other than the WARM orange juice). good location. elev. needs to be replaced.

Quality? What's that? You won't find it here.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/06
We chose this hotel because it listed a pool, laundry, and was a Quality flagged property. I've been in Quality Suites in the past and have always had a high regard for the Quality chain of Choice Hotels International. I was amazed to see this property. On arrival, the pool was closed, and the laundry was one rickety washer and an unreliable dryer. There was wired internet via a supplied ethernet cable, no wireless access. The breakfast was mediocre, the muffins frozen in the center and the waffle batter rarely restocked. We booked a non-smoking King, they put us in a non-smoking 2 double. To get the NS King, we had to pay $10 more for the suite. Which had a broken A/C and a toilet that didn't flush well. And no, there were no other rooms to move us into. The second night, they managed to find another room for us and while the A/C and the toilet worked, the bathtub did not. The only reason the bathroom was white was because they had painted over the tan-colored tiles... and the paint was peeling off in huge chunks. The desk clerk didn't know the area, so couldn't help in anything, going out of her way to be pointlessly useful by providing a list of local places to eat, but not knowing how to get there. Floors and walls were filthy, and there were obvious places where they had done hasty patches to the ceilings... which were failing. The facility had secondary support struts holding up the roof on the back of the 3rd floor (room 337)... the lone and tiny elevator smelled of natural gas and motor fumes and had a door that didn't always close. When we checked out, they charged a card OTHER than the card I presented on arrival, and couldn't explain why. I left before they could charge the second card as well. I couldn't give it half a star, but that's what this place deserves.
