Will never go back
By KayK, 9/14/09
I booked my reservation on line a month in advance. After staying two nights, I asked the desk clerk to print a bill for me to submit to my company for reimbursement. We were not leaving the motel, we just needed a separate receipt. The clerk checked us out, then checked us back in at a higher rate (rate gauging???). I asked why the higher rate because we were not leaving for two more days. She said it was their weekend rate. I explained we were not leaving we just needed a reciept for our first two nights stay, and the rate we were quoted on line should remain the same. She just looked at me and laughed. That was the most arrogant and rude display from someone in the hospitality business I have ever seen. We asked to speak to management and was told he would be there in 10 minutes. He never showed. When we checked in, we had to wait about five minutes for the night clerk to finish her conversation(non work related) before checking us in. We were very disappointed with our stay at this motel with most of the staff. The room was okay.

Definitely a place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/2/09
I was very pleased with Oglethrope Inn & Suites. The rooms were spacious and very nice. Charles Walker at the front desk was very professional, nice and helpful. He gave great recommendations to places to eat. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again. I will also refer Oglethrope Inn & Suites to others.

Would not stay there again!
By Ronda B, 2/1/09
This is an old establish that has been cheaply refurbished. The headboard in the bedroom was peeling, nightstand had many cigarette burns. It literally took 10 minutes for the water to get hot in the sink. The toilet bowl is stained & the bathroom light flickers (no exaust fan in bathroom). The 'suite' smelled musky & yuck. One reason it smelled came from under the microwave cabinet, made the mistake of opening it to get to fridge (gross). The ceilings are peeling throughout. The remote in the bedroom didn't work and the telephone was made in the 70's. No, I wouldn't stay there again. I would not recommend staying there. I supposedly had a 'suite'. Living room with separate king bedroom. The price was $109. I have stayed at other hotels that were new and clean for the same price.

we go there every year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/08
We stay here every spring & have for years. We have not noticed a musty smell, but can relate to the review about a/c in your face at night. (we cover up half the large vent) It is very cheery, the breakfast is great, coffee pots that are always full, helpful staff, computer in lobby for those without laptops, and find the housekeeping staff friendly and thorough. We appreciate the age of the hotel & find it charming, rather than antiquated.

A mixed bag
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/6/07
Pluses: Large suite Pretty indoor courtyard Nice breakfast included Paper in the morning Nice staff Fairly quiet Minuses: Far from historical district Old (old) building - eerily 70s Musty, moldy smell A bit of mold in the bathtub, and on shower curtain Overall, I liked the uniqueness of the hotel. Price could have been better ($25 less, I think). I got the impression that some of the rooms don't get a lot of use - hence the strength I had to exert to open the "sealed" door to my room.

first family vacation
By Stoney Rock, 11/15/06
Well, this was our first vacation as a family. Much excitement involved, and planning, calling, reserving. I havent been to Savannah in almost 15 years, so we were new to the area. The staff at the desk were VERY unhelpful. They had no technical knowledge whatsoever about the rooms and video hookups. Neither did the maintenance men. They told me I couldnt play Playstation 2 on their TVs, but unaware that all is needed is an adapter. Very impatient and rude staff. Except for the one woman that wasnt even from the area. She was from Iowa.

very musty
By Kent, 9/14/06
Have stayed here several times due to the value and what you get. A king one bedroom suite for $99. The people here are really nice and helpful. However, I don't know if this is a very low lying area or not, all the rooms(had an executive king suite) were so musty we had to change rooms right away. The new room wasn't much better. Even the sheets felt damp. Sometimes this cannot be avoided especially in Savannah, Ga. But I wouldn't be suprised if mold is found around the motel. We love the people here and even the head of maintenance helped us when we had car trouble. But due to the odor. We cannot bring ourselves to stay here again.

Beautiful Courtyard hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/29/06
We had a beautiful 2 night stay at the hotel and found the staff to be friendly Pluses: room was pretty clean a beautiful courtyard with one of the nicer breakfast buffets we've seen large rooms lots of information on the area & a free newspaper many young students were sharing the hotel, but it was still pretty quiet price Minuses: location is 4 miles from Savannah, but its not too bad if you've drive through the areas with nice houses

Stay away!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/06
The warm fuzzies: - A big room (hence the name suite) The woops: - Room with weird smell. - TV in the room did not work. - Bathroom light did not work. - Changed to another "non-smoking" room that smelled like a bar full of smoke. - Changed to yet another room, A/C hit me right in the face for the whole night without being able to adjust it. Lesson: - Stay away.
