Super Inn, Decatur

My husband and I were invited to visit a close and dear friend who lives in Greensboro, North Carolina. She lived there for more than four years. We decided to see her, and since we were so close to Georgia, where we have family, we planned on visiting your fair city. We drove from Bridgeport, Connecticut, which took approximately twelve hours (stops along the way) to Greensboro, North Carolina where we just dropped off our belongings to our friends house, with a little refreshing stop we were on the move again straight to Georgia, which took another five and a half hours. What a trip. It was quite late when we arrived into Georgia and with consideration to our family members, we decided to stay in a hotel until morning. Well this is where our tragic first impression of your state of Georgia comes in. We checked into the Super Inn Motel located at 4200 Wesley Club Drive in Decatur. I asked to see the room before we paid for it, which is how I do business. I remind we have been driving for more than seventeen hours. I looked at the room from the doorway, tired and stressed, I said ok, we will take it. We then proceeded to the office to check-in. My husband is a disabled Army veteran. He sleeps with a C-PAP machine which assists him to breathe at night. He also has three herniated discs, diabetes and high blood pressure. It is difficult for him to sleep at night with or without his machine. We were so tired and sleepy we just decided to go to bed. After about an hour I started to itch and cough tremendously. My husband also started to cough even with the C-PAP machine on. It was about three o’clock in the morning, so I decided maybe I needed to get the days dirt off of me, so I went into the bathroom to take a shower. Oh My God! There was mildew and mold on the shower curtain and urination on the toilet. I quickly put my coat on and vigorously walked to the front desk to complain loudly about the condition of the room. The manager on duty stated; “I have been here on duty and the problem should have been reported to the person who checked you in, there is nothing I can do for you. I was not here when you checked in”. WHAT?! Oh but wait, it gets better. “We don’t give refunds”. WHAT?! NO REFUNDS?! Oh I like giving away money, I like staying in nasty hotels or motels, I like being taken advantage of. So, I packed our bags at 5 O’clock a.m., left the dirt behind and with no where to go, my husband and I slept in our car. Oh, Georgia. What a disappointment. My very first impression of this state was not good. How can you not only support such a motel but give it a health rating of 97?! Who was paid off? Whose pocket is getting fat. Well, I will not return to this motel nor this section of Georgia. I don’t know about the rest of the state. I suppose my communication with my family will have to be by email. So sad.
