One of only two places I stay in Columbus
By Scott, 10/29/09
I am frequently in Columbus, and I'll only stay at 2 places when I'm there...either the Columbus Marriott or the Hampton Inn on the 280 Bypass in Phenix City. The Hampton has slightly more luxurious rooms and has several convenience stores and fast food places nearby. However, the Marriott has several advantages of its own. For one, the Marriott has outstanding room service choices (the Hampton does not offer room service) and Houlihan's restaurant is located in the hotel lobby (they have one of the best steaks I've ever had). The staff at both locations (to include the wait staff at Houlihan's) are extremely efficient, helpful, and courteous. I also utilized the send out dry cleaning services at both hotels, and was very satisfied with the results. For me, though, the biggest draw to the Marriott is its location in the newly revived Downtown Columbus area. The hotel is located just 2 blocks from several popular bars and restaurants. Both hotels price in the low hundreds ($80-$90 with a military discount). The Hampton is brand new, and I've only stayed there once, so it is hard to say what its normal occupancy is, but I doubt it fills up often. The Marriott, however, is frequently booked solid do to local conventions and Ft. Benning graduations, so reserve early.

Where is this terrific hotel?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/4/08
I thought the people in the other reviews must have been at a different hotel! We stayed at Marriott Columbus, May 2 & 3 2008. They first refused to guarantee that we would have 2 beds per room (for a ladies convention). They offered roll-a-way beds, which we requested weeks before and 3 times the day we arrived. We were told at bedtime when no bed had placed in our room that they had no more! I suspect that mine was given to a group of ladies who had also been guaranteed 2 beds per room and arrived to find that their rooms had one bed for 4 ladies. When I asked what they suggested, when I was informed they had no more roll-a-way beds, the "intelligent" lady they had at the desk said she had no suggestion. She did offer the information that I would not be charged for the roll-a-way bed, to which I replied "I guess not, since I'm not getting one!" I slept on the floor and that was dangerous considering the condition the bathroom was in. It had a terrible odor like urine which turned out to be a mildewed shower curtain. I took a picture of the dirt and hair behind the door. Ladies in another room reported a real nasty commode and one group had not gotten rooms by 5:30 p.m.! Not enough linen, coffee nor drinking cups for 5. Either the people that posted "positive" reviews were on a parallel planet, didn't have as high a standard of cleanliness and service, or were just plain lucky!

Perry is worth SIX stars!!
By Christopher, 7/6/05
We like the gracious hospitality, the nice spacious rooms, the aura of days-gone-by with all today's conveniences. And Perry, who always sees to all our bags and is the PERFECT SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN is always friendly and helpful and entertaining. He's worth SIX stars all by himself. Last year, we stood in our 6th-floor room on July 4th, in our underwear, watching the fireworks display and eating boiled peanuts. How better does Georgia get??!!! We could see the personnel just below us on top of a parking garage, setting off all the fireworks, while the display filled the sky just in front of our huge picture windows. And all around the horizon, I counted NINE other displays going on in other towns; a once-in-a-lifetime experience we'll always remember. I'm only online now because I'm making reservations for later this month. Love that place.

Great Services
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/04
The Wyndam Columbus hotel is awsome. I am 12 years old and I enjoy it.I come to Columbus every year for the Albany State vs. Fort Vallay game. The employees are always nice and friendly.
