It was unbelievable!!
By amber, 12/20/09
My husband took me here for my 21st birthday last weekend. If we ever plan to stay in Savannah again we will definitly stay there again.. The staff was very friendly and they answered every question we had about the place and let us walk in any room that had the door opened. The place is beautiful!!! We both recommend anybody who is planning to stay in Savannah to check in the Ballastone Inn... You would not be disappointed... Thank You Ballaststone Inn!!!

We spent a weekend at the Ballastone Inn and had a pampered stay. The room was elegant and the staff so helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our delicious meals. The location was perfect. We will go back again!

Not worth the price
By Haydee, 11/29/09
We had stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami for a week then went on to the Ballastone for what was to be 5 days. We stayed 2. The breakfast left us hungry, the bathrooms were cheap looking, not old but cheap. The prices vary wildly from what we experienced. We saw people walk in and negotiate a price much less than what we paid which was a bit unsettling. There is limited parking in an alley, 6 or so spaces, that my wife wanted nothing to do with so we ended up on the street with metered parking. The Inn does not really have accomodations for 4 to sit and eat. We traveled with another couple and had to eat at seperate tables. It is on a fairly busy street with more road noise than we expected. This is a decent Inn but in our opinion it is Ritz prices with a Holiday Inn experience

Expensive and things gone from room
By ALBERT, 11/28/09
We had a laptop taken from our room and were treated very poorly by the Ballastone employees when we reported it to the police. Old inns have good ole metal keys and not magentic keys. This makes it easy for someone to enter your room. Not only was the Inn expensive but the loss of an apple laptop makes it unaffordable.

Over-the-top
By S., 09/07/09
From the moment we arrived, we knew that we were in for a treat. We were pampered the entire length of our stay. We had wonderful breakfasts with applewood smoked bacon, herb roasted potatoes, and belgium waffles. The high tea was the perfect touch after a long day of touring the city. The staff went above and beyond ther duties to entrust that we enjoy our stay. We will definitely look towards the Ballastone for any future trips to the city of Savannah.

Disappointed.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/09
Keep your money. The Ballastone's advertised top notch service has definitely been exaggerated. Half of the staff doesn't seem to know what they're doing; whereas, the other half seem very disgruntled. The concierge was the one who seemed to run the show; he was incredibly helpful throughout my stay. The menu was "pseudo-healthy" but tasteless. The silverware placed on my table was filthy. I could enjoy a similar experience for far less than what I paid for.

never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/09
not only was the air conditioning broken on a hot savannah summer night, the "hors doeuvres" were straight out of a costco package. owners haughty and condescenfing ( can't figure out why ) and "breakfast" was garbage at best - served tepid and took far too long. would it have been a decent deal for $150? maybe, but we paid $400. ****also, check gratuity policy - there are signs in the rooms asking that you leave gratuity on your final bill, so all staff 'can be treated fairly'. well, fairly at the ballastone offers a new twist - the owners keep a big portion of the tips for themselves "for overhead and management expenses". huh??????? save your money - stay somewhere else. rotten hotel for the money, miserable owners ( i think it was a husband and wife, but wife could have passed for a man ). horrible.

Southern Charm
By Dwight, 12/28/08
In December 2008, we selected Savannah, GA to wed. Neither of us northerners had ever ventured to Savannah, therefore, we wanted our destination ceremony to mirror the values of such an historic venue. After researching a number of bed and breakfasts, the Ballastone Inn's exceptional decor and location stood out. To our relief, the Ballastone's staff were extremely helpful as ceremony details were planned well in advance of our arrival. Thanks to the Ballastone's professional and knowledgeable staff and the inn's breathtaking decor, our wedding/ honeymoon took on greater meaning than we could have imagined. The sophisticated elegance of the Ballastone takes on a life of its own, matched only by the timeless nature of historic Savannah. Throughout our 7-day stay, we, as were other guests, were pampered and completely satisfied. The Ballastone is the essence of friendly, helpful, and courteous southern hospitality. Attention to detail, extraordinary accommodations, and a genuinely peaceful setting defines the Ballastone's most cherished characteristics. A must-experience for any occasion. The Ballastone Inn is truly outstanding and well worth the modest cost. Highly recommended.

Perfect in every way!
By Larry, 10/15/08
I always stay at the Ballastone when I visit Savannah because I know that the staff will be friendly and helpful, the rooms will be comfortable and attractive, and the breakfast will be delicious. For me, this is the perfect home base for whatever you plan to do in Savannah. The intersection of Bull and Oglethorpe streets is about as convenient as you could want whatever your interests. Try it sometime!

Outstanding!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/08
The whole atmosphere at the Ballastone Inn is outstanding. The staff are so friendly and personable that leaving is truly a sad day. I keep going back to their website, wishing I were back at the Ballastone. The food is fabulous. Every breakfast has a unique chef's special that is delicious. We hope to return some day. You can not go wrong by staying at the Ballastone.
