Marseilles Beachfront Hotel, Miami Beach

The location of this hotel was perfect ! However I you can tell that this hotel was very old and they seriously need to put some money in this hotel. Some of the workers are extremely lazy ! We had to ask for our room to be cleaned properly because you could tell that she neglected somethings like the bathroom !! Which was already old and disgusting to me , I have a fear of gross bathrooms anyway . But was it as bad as others has said no its not . Is it doable absoulutely... will I go back, probably not. Some of the people who work there are extremely nice like Danny the bartender and Julian at the front desk.

The only nice thing is the lobby and it misleads you into thinking that the entire hotel is modern. Sooooo not the case. The rooms smell, the service sucks, the bed was broken and worn out. The room looked like it was straight out of a 1979 movie. I refused to stay there and left after 30min of exposure to this subpar, substandard, behind in the times, archaic and misleading establishment. They need a major renovation. It’s more of a motel than anything. For the prices they charge you can do so much better.

Why did I ignore the reviews? This hotel looks nothing like it does on the website. It was disgusting, and the smell was horrible my friends and I checked in and went to our rooms, we didn’t even want to sit down. We immediately gathered our stuff and went to the front desk for a refund and went across the street to the Catalina. Never again!

My boyfriend and I checked into the Marseilles on 22/7 for a 3-night stay. We arrived back at the hotel on Thursday evening at midnight and went to sleep. At 4am, I woke up to notice that the door to our room was propped open – and there was a man in our room in the process of burglarizing us. This was the most terrifying experience of my life. I screamed and the man took off out the door – we were extremely lucky that this criminal wasn’t violent – but we did lose $150 and were very shaken up for the rest of the weekend. The police were called and we spent the rest of the night/morning filing the report. Turns out the Marseilles only has one security guard on duty at night for 2 properties. Besides the night clerk, there is no one else in the hotel. I am very concerned for anyone else who stays here – there are no deadbolts or latches on the doors. I still don’t know how the criminal was able to get into our room but I do know this could have been prevented with something as simple as a latch on the door, which is the most inexpensive measure a hotel can take to ensure its’ patrons safety, but was apparently safety is not the Marseilles’ main concern. We promptly checked out and were given a full refund from the hotel, which was the minimum they could do. We checked into the Sagamore for the duration of our stay, and the difference was monumental. The Sagamore staff were extremely sympathetic and beyond helpful, and the hotel itself is so beautiful and well maintained – we felt safe here. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone staying in South Beach. If you do stay at the Marseilles, I would strongly suggest you keep all your valuables in the safe and try to prop the desk chair up against the door or something at night to ensure that your room is not broken into as ours was.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in January and had a lovely time. We had friends in SB who had checked out a few places and felt this one was exceptional for the price.Our room was very clean and the staff quite friendly and efficient. The room was nicely decorated and even had a walk in closet. Apparently, they have been doing some remodeling so we did note any of the problems mentioned in other reviews. Our stay was very hightly satisfactory.We would stay there again and would certainly recommend it to others. In fact, our friends had other guest that stayed at this hotel also. The location is excellent,right on the beach walk and close to Lincoln Ave, so we were able to walk everywhere and felt safe at night. No parking,however, so we used the paid parking a short walk away for $20/day.

This was the worst hotel that we ever stayed in !!!Front office staff were less than friendly,disrespectful and unhelpful (no one helps with bags).The walls are paper thin. The noise from the hallways is very loud and we could hear everything that was going on in the room next to us.Don't stay here if you want to enjoy your vacation!

IN ALL MY YEARS OF TRAVEL MY STAY AT THIS HOTEL WAS THE WORSE, FIRST OF ALL THE OUTSIDE APPEARANCE OF THE PLACE IS VERY OUT DATED FOR THE HOTEL STRIP THEY'RE ARE IN, TO BUILDINGS AWAY ITS THE RITZ CARLTON AND THE DELANO, YOU WOULD THINK THEY KEEP UP WITH THE PLACE. THEN YOU PROCEED TO WALK INSIDE WHERE THERE'S NO ONE TO GREET YOU OR HELP YOU WITH YOUR BAG AND THE OUTSTANDING SMELL OF WET CARPET WITH A MIXTURE OF SUNTAN LOTION AND ROACH SPRAY SLAPS YOU IN THE FACE. THEN HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY THE OVERNIGHT FRONT DESK NAMED JAMES, JUST BECAUSE HE PROCEEDED TO CHECK US IN WITHOUT READING THE VOUCHER AND GIVING US A TWO BEDS STANDARD ROOM WHEN SPECIFIC REQUEST WAS DONE FOR A ONE BED STANDARD ROOM. TO MAKE THINGS WORSE, I GET INTO THE ELEVATOR WHERE THE STENCH GETS WORSE, GOT TO MY ROOM GREETED BY THE SAME SMELL THROUGH OUT THE HOTEL, THERE'S NO AIR CONDITIONER ON THE ROOM AND ACCORDING TO FRONT DESK NO ONE IS THERE TO MAKE REPAIRS, THE BATHTUB HAS PEELING PAINT ALL OVER IT, AND THE SINK HAS RUSTY FIXTURES. I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY TO BE ACCOMODATED TO ANOTHER ROOM. THANK GOD I WAS JUST THERE FOR TWO AND A HALF DAYS.

I stayed there with my husband and two kids and we all had a great time. The hotel itself looked very nice and i loved the old architecture. The pool had a nice little bar with a small selction of food. The hotel is right on the beach. There's a liitle prebeach area between the pool and the public beach with hammocks for us and stuff for the kids to play on. We had a very nice stay and would definitely reccomend this hotel to others!

The only helpful person in the whole digusting place was the porter. Maybe if they gave him the managers job they would get somewhere. We PREPAID for as room got a confirm and receipt. But when we got there was told that the room was NOT available. and all they had was a Queen bed (for 3 people!) we had to stand there in heated debate for an HOUR before they gave us a junior suite whiich we paid extra for! and the only reason I gave it a 2 instead of a 1 was because the porter was so nice

I think the Marseilles Hotel is good value for money. The service wasnt out of the ordinary, but neither was the price. For a fair price you get a good hotel on a superb location, literally on the beach and only 1 block away from Lincoln Rd. with plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you entertained. The pool area is a bit on the small side, and no more than ok, but who cares? when the beach is in the backyard. I can definetely recommend Marseilles to everyone.
