Loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/10
I thought it was beautiful very clean. Saw a man taking care to make sure every thing was clean at 6 am every morning so there was no trash any where around the pool. Rooms were clean as well

Bad Start, Terrible Middle, Unspeakable Finale
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/08
Within 5 minutes two separate phone calls got "only suites available" and "plenty of rooms available." Based on reviews we would definitely NOT picked this property, but our friends already had reservations for a long weekend at the beach. At the rime of reservation and at check in we asked for our two rooms be located as close as possible to our friends. Great job - my wife and I on the 8th floor, our kids on the 4th, and our friends on the 7th on the other side of the hotel! The desk "gentleman" just gave me a blank look and handed me the keys in spite of my inquiries. Big "No coolers on pool deck" sign. I guess coolers mean beach bags, shopping bags, purses, etc by the way the pool bar manager kept patrolling the pool area demanding to know what was in anything he couldn't see in. An obvious hotel employee was sitting at a table using his cell phone to report "suspicious" people. We watched him looking around, make a call, and out would come the bar guy! Pretty bad way to capture business. Prices for anything at the bar and grill very high...checked out the resturant menu - ridiculous prices for what they offered - wife by this time too ticked off to consider their spa. Elevator waits were a big joke among guests. Everyone got tired of the endless waiting. I had already made up my mind after one night at this place but the best was yet to come. Went to the parking garage (8.00 per night that they didn't mention - must have been very fine print when checking in but large print on the hotel bill) to load the luggage when I noticed the driver side window smashed and my GPS missing. Did I mention they have parking security? Or that there were three cars that same night broken into? Front desk did their best to not be helpful. A maintenance person was sent to have me fill out some forms. They were not for me, but for the hotel file. Had to ask three times for the police to be called. Hotel manager would not return any phone calls despite being called all day and messages left. They did allow me to keep one room past check out while the window was being replaced. Gee! What service. Never again Daytona and will sleep in the gutter before I go back here.

Poor Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/08
I have not even stayed at the hotel as yet and I am not liking what I am experiencing. We fell for the hotel when we saw the great website but communication with the hotel has been horrible. We have been trying to call to update our room and the service reps continue to tell us that we have to upgrade once we get there even though by that time they can not guarantee that the room we want will be available. They also are very rude and unprofessional in the way in which they interact with their guests over the phone. You ask for one person and they give you someone else, transfer your calls to voice mail before even finishing what they are saying, and not returning phone calls when messages are left. This hotel needs to get it together because their unprofessionalism and coldness is not very welcoming.

Great location. Friendly staff.
By rattypackrat, 07/02/08
My husband & I stayed at The Plaza Resort & Spa for three nights. We had a spectacular view of the ocean in our Ocean Front Room (which I highly recommend). The room was clean and comfortable. The King size bed was comfortable and accompanied by six nice pillows. The bathroom was furnished with soaps, body gels, lotions, and plenty of towels and washcloths. While the bathroom was not very big, the tub/shower was wide and all was clean. The art decor in the room was cozy. The maid replenished any items used and changed the sheets daily as expected. There was a seperate area with a kitchen sink, cherry wooden cabinets, convection/microwave oven, mini fridge, and a coffee maker. There was also a blow dryer in the bathroom. An iron & ironing board. One very nice feature is the 42" plasma flat screen televisions. The room had a private balcony ( small but perfect for two). The pool was very nice with plenty of lounge chairs & tables. The pool is olympic size & goes up to 10 ft. deep. The ocean was incredible & the pool is ocean view/side. The jacuzzi was nice ( a fee of $10 per person per day, so we used it more than once a day and got our money's worth!). This part of the ocean does not allow vehicles on the beach which I found to be a big plus! Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this resort to relatives, family & friends!

Beautiful view
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/07
Upon arrival our room was not ready but to make up for this they upgraded us to a king suite. We were actually early for checkin but the gesture was much appreciated. The room comes completely equiped with everythihg. Pots, pans, coffee maker, dishes cutlery, stove, micro, big fridge (Not a bar fridge but one with a freezer)- (no toaster though) So it is easy to cook in room if you so desire. The room was clean and smelled that way upon opening the door. The beds..oh the beds....comfy comfY!! We were on cloud nine!! The pool is ok but lots of deck chairs and lets Face it..its the ocean we come for right!!?? They were pressure washing the hotel and painting when we were there but it still did not turn us off the hotel. Daytona has deteriated since my last visit but the beach is still nice and I suppose if you are coming for the spring break party its still what you are looking for. Have fun...I recommend the hotel!!

Check options first
By Downtown Diner, 04/29/07
Overall, the stay at Plaza was decent, but too many flaws would keep me from booking a room there again without checking other options first. For example, the Hilton a short walk down the beach seemed to be a much better run hotel resort. First, the elevator system at the Plaza was a mess. It may seem like a small matter, but after spending considerable time waiting each and every time you need to get up and down will quickly make you realize the importance of a more efficient system. Overall, staff seemed unable to keep up with the various large groups in the hotel during our stay. Maid service did not appear until after 3:00 - just about the time we hoped to relax back in our rooms. If valet parking was available, it never appeared. The rooms, while clean, showed signs of deferred maintenance. To the Plaza's credit, they did seem to be catching up with painting and other necessary repairs. The spa was nice and the service there was good, but it also showed signs of disrepair. The hotel restaurant looked okay, but less than tempting. We only tried it once for the breakfast buffet. At least one better dining option exists within walking distance - Rain Supperclub is around the corner. It's well worth the one block walk around the corner as it provides a better atmospher and outstanding food. The basement level parking garage offers tight spaces and often fills up requiring parking on an inconvient surface lot at the far north end of the hotel property. The resort location is nice and the ocean side rooms provide great views. The suites are roomy and fairly well appointed. All things considered, I'm somewhat frustrated with my stay at the Plaza. I would make every attemt to stay at the Hilton Resort and Spa, but you could do much worse than the Plaza if the Hilton's booked.

NEVER again
By Carol D, 04/29/07
We tried to cancle due a conflict..called your 800 and talk to a phone bank in India..who put me on hold stating he was calling the hotel. Then he said the hotel said they would not and I lost my 143 dollars. I hung up called the hotel and spoke to Amanada and she said that no one called and if they had there were plenty of room and that saw no problem since i called 24 hours in advanced...I will NEVER use this website. I use to use it for all of our soccer travelling for my family and team..I have also contacted Florida Youth Soccer to let everyone NOT to use this website. You have lost a faithful consumer.

An Unforgettable Affair
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/30/07
Our company,"AN Unforgettable Affair", coordinated a wedding held in Daytona Beach and we arranged accomodations for the wedding party at the Plaza Resort. The service, accomodations, and location were excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, clean and had a great view. We will definately recommend the hotel to future clients.
