Good enough for one night!
By ,
Not a place I'd choose to stay unless it was just for a place to stay and breakfast. Nothing special, outside pool facilities were mediocre and old. Room had been updated and they were updating some other common areas, but I'ld recommend it as a place to sleep when you had lots of other things to see and not if you were planning to lounge by the hotel pool. The breakfast buffet was good and the service was also good.

Will not go back!!
By ,
We stayed for two night and did not use housekeeping. We called the careline and requested additional wash cloths and never received them. We discovered roaches in the bathroom. Upon check out we told the front desk representative about the roaches. The representative stated that we should have informed them before our final bill was printed so that we could have been given a discount on our stay.

I'M SURPRISED THIS IS OWNED BY HILTON!
By ,
staff was an uninterested pack of zombies, no ameneties were offered, while less perstigious hotels are offering free breakfast we were thrown one chocolate chip cookie, room was clean but at these prices that should be expected, they tried to charge me for the use of the room safe when no sign was posted for charge of it's use, i'll stay at best westen next time.

Slacking big time!
By ,
My experience with the hotel staff was awful and I'm beginning to think all the good reviews were made up by the hotel staff. I had never experienced such laziness. These people didn't want to get anything done. I complained over and over again. I love Doubletree hotels and can not understand why this one across from Universal Studios was so lazy and uncaring. I thought it was just me but as I was leaving another couple was complaining and asking to speak with a manager. Hotels get a good name and then start to slack. Please don't do that!

Great
By ,
My parents and I just got back from our stay at this hotel. It was really nice. The beds were VERY comfortable. The rooms were very clean; the maid service was excellent. The foods they had were good. There were two things that I didn't like though. One was the airconditioning would leak a little bit and there was always a small wet spot by the closet. The other is that the reception on the tv was terrible. the picture was always grainy and had a yellowish tint to it, but we hardly used the tv anyway. Other than that, this hotel is great! From the hot tub to the rooms, this was a very pleasant stay.

Loved the beds
By ,
We stayed at this motel for two nights on a recent trip to Universal. The location was great as we were going to Halloween Horror Night at Universal and we got a cab over for only $5.00. The beds at this hotel were so comfortable we didn't want to get up the next day. All in all we felt this hotel was a great value for the money.

7/9/06 - So So
By ,
My entire family says that our beds were the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever experienced (soft pillows and down comforters). Having said that, we had a few inconveniences. We paid extra for a view of Universal Studios....well, the "view" was mostly parking lot. We could, however, see the short fireworks display at 10pm. The whirlpool spa was non-existent (being built), and the pool bar was never open during late afternoon, evening hours (we stayed 3 days and 2 nights). I guess I would assume that if you're staying in a hotel at the entrance to Universal, most people would be enjoying the parks during the day and the pool at night. We were told the pool bar usually closed at 3pm. When we finally found a place to get a margarita (the bar inside the hotel), one drink was over $8.00...yikes. We also never saw Starbucks open (apparently mornings only). The "shuttle" had a specific schedule, which didn't operate after 10am. My family likes to go to the park in the morning, return to the hotel for dinner and a refreshing dip in the pool, and return to the park for night activities. If you rely on the shuttle, you cannot return to the park. For convenience, we ended up driving to the parks and paying $10.00 a day(in addition to the ridiculous $5.00 fee to park our car at the hotel). The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, but the rest left me thinking I probably could have made a better choice.

First time we stay at this hotel. The room was very spacious, very clean. The hotel personnel was very courteous and we had a great time at the pool. Loved their parking lot too.

Halloween Horror Nights Hotel Deal
By ,
This was an excellent choice for our stay in Orlando for the Universal Horror Nights event. The hotel was clean, the service was quite good and the staff were all friendly and professional. Upon check-in, we were greeted at the concierge desk and given a welcome gift(some personal care items, candy, gum) and fresh from the oven chocolate chip cookies. The only caveat in regard to Universal is: take a taxi to the front entrance (it is a lot further than it appears). I will definitely stay at this hotel again. We had a quick lunch at the bar in the main lobby; I had a burger with home made chips that was exceptional.
